The sunlight was bright and unrelenting as Taehyung walked through the busy streets, his thoughts a mess of confusion and unease. The man beside him-silent and imposing-had barely spoken since they left the tram stop, and every moment they spent together seemed to stretch out longer than the last. Taehyung didn't know why he'd brought him here, to Hoseok's father's small buffet restaurant of all places, but something told him this was the only way forward.
They reached the familiar little shop, the sign outside swaying gently in the light breeze. Taehyung hesitated for a moment, his eyes flicking toward the man, whose scarred face remained expressionless. The man barely reacted as Taehyung pushed open the door, and the familiar chime echoed through the small space, announcing their arrival.
Inside, the restaurant was bright, sunlight streaming through the windows and casting a warm glow over the modest space. A few customers were scattered at different tables, quietly eating their meals, and the smell of freshly cooked food filled the air. Hoseok's father, busy behind the counter, greeted Taehyung with a nod, his hands never stopping as he ladled out soup for another customer.
"Sit here," Taehyung muttered to the man, gesturing to a table near the window. The man gave a small nod, making his way to the seat without a word, his movements calm and deliberate. As he sat, his gaze seemed to fix on the door again, as if waiting for someone or something.
Just as Taehyung turned to leave, he felt a hand lightly grip his shoulder. He glanced back to see Hoseok standing there, a curious look on his face. His eyes flicked toward the man sitting in the corner, and then back to Taehyung, his expression shifting into something more cautious.
"Taehyung," Hoseok whispered, leaning in slightly, "is that who I think it is? The guy I mentioned to you a while back?"
Taehyung stiffened slightly, but he nodded. "Yeah. That's him."
Hoseok's eyes widened a bit, and he glanced toward the man, now sitting quietly, a cigarette already lit between his fingers, the ember glowing faintly in the dim light of the restaurant.
"Wait..." Hoseok leaned closer, lowering his voice even more. "Why is he here?"
Taehyung shifted uncomfortably, glancing around to make sure no one was paying too much attention. "I need to talk to him," he muttered under his breath.
Hoseok's confusion deepened, and he shook his head. "Talk to him? Why? What does he want?"
Taehyung hesitated for a moment. He could see Hoseok's genuine concern, but there were things he couldn't explain right now. Not when he wasn't entirely sure of his own motives.
"Jimin?" Hoseok blinked, looking even more confused. "Why would he be looking for him? I thought Jimin-"
"Jimin got him locked up once right?," Taehyung cut in, his voice steady but filled with a hint of frustration. "I didn't ask for details. But now this man is out and... I don't know, maybe he's looking for some kind of closure or something."
