Jungkook stepped into the mansion. He made his way down the hall, walking toward the library where Jimin was sitting quietly, reading a book. The sight of him, peaceful and engrossed in the pages, made something inside Jungkook shift, but his expression remained guarded.
He paused at the doorway for a moment, watching Jimin. "You’re looking better," Jungkook said, his voice warm but faintly weary. "Keeping yourself busy, I see."
Jimin looked up from his book, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Thanks," he replied, his voice soft. He marked his page and set the book down before standing up. "Where did you go?" His gaze searched Jungkook's face, noticing the faint exhaustion in his eyes. "Is everything okay?"
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, his jaw tightening slightly before he spoke. "I went to the hospital," he said slowly, avoiding Jimin’s gaze. "Had to talk to Yoongi. Get some answers."
Jimin’s brow furrowed slightly, sensing something off in Jungkook’s tone. "Answers about what?" he asked, his voice gentle yet concerned.
Jungkook shifted, his discomfort obvious as he tried to find the right words. "About everything. About what happened. Why he—" He stopped himself, taking a deep breath. "Why he did this to you."
Jimin's expression softened, but he remained quiet, waiting for more.
Jungkook finally met Jimin's eyes, his voice lowering slightly. "Yoongi knew where you were because... Taehyung told him." His words came out carefully, as if testing the waters. "Taehyung’s the one who gave him the information."
Jimin's eyes widened in shock. "Taehyung?" His voice was barely a whisper. He had no idea.
Jungkook clenched his jaw, the frustration clear in his features. "I didn’t expect it either," he said, his tone strained. "I never thought he'd do something like that." He looked away, trying to suppress the anger rising inside him. "But he did. He’s the one who told Yoongi where you were."
Jimin stood there for a moment, taking in what Jungkook had said. His mind was racing, processing the betrayal. He couldn’t believe Taehyung would do something like that. He’d never seen it coming.
Jungkook saw the hurt flicker across Jimin’s face, but he continued. "I didn’t want to tell you this," he said, his voice softer now, regret creeping in. "But you deserve to know."
Jimin nodded slowly, trying to steady his thoughts. "I understand," he said quietly, though the betrayal stung deep. "It’s just... hard to believe."
Jungkook stepped closer, a somber expression on his face. "I’m sorry you had to find out this way. I’ll handle it.
You don’t need to worry about him."Jimin nodded, and without thinking, he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Jungkook in a tight hug. It was his way of showing gratitude, of telling Jungkook that he was grateful for everything he was doing.
But as he pulled back slightly, he noticed Jungkook wince and hiss softly. Jimin pulled away, eyes widening in concern. "Are you okay? What’s wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
Jungkook gave him a strained smile, trying to brush it off. "It’s nothing, really. Just... the ribs," he said, his voice a bit tight. "I got hurt during the fight yesterday, but it’ll be okay with time."
Jimin frowned, his hands reaching out instinctively, as if he wanted to help. "You should rest," he said, his concern deepening. "Let me help you. I can take care of you."
Jungkook shook his head gently, placing a hand on Jimin’s shoulder. "It’ll be fine," he said softly, a reassuring smile on his face, though the pain in his ribs was still there. "Just need some time."
