As Jungkook approached the grand front doors of the Jeon mansion, the soft glow of lights spilling from inside highlighted the staff who had been awaiting their return. At the sight of Jungkook carrying Jimin in his arms, their eyes widened slightly, though they quickly masked their surprise with polite professionalism.

One of the butlers stepped forward, bowing slightly as he reached for the door. "Welcome home, young master," he said, his tone calm but tinged with concern. "Shall I alert the house physician?"

Jungkook shook his head, adjusting his hold on Jimin. "No, thank you. Just make sure everything is quiet tonight. He needs rest."

The butler nodded, pulling the door open wide to allow Jungkook to step inside. A maid hurried over to help, offering a soft greeting. "Is there anything we can prepare for him, sir?"

"Just some water and blankets," Jungkook replied without slowing his stride. "Send them to my room."

The staff exchanged discreet glances, but none questioned the change. Instead, they moved efficiently to fulfill his requests, leaving Jungkook undisturbed as he ascended the grand staircase.

Reaching the upper floor, Jungkook walked down the corridor toward the bedroom that had always been assigned to him. It was a space he had never shared before—until now. Pushing open the heavy door with his shoulder, he stepped into the dimly lit room, its opulence softened by the warm glow of a bedside lamp.

He moved to the bed, gently lowering Jimin onto the plush mattress. His movements were careful, ensuring not to disturb Jimin's peaceful slumber. The smaller man shifted slightly, his head resting against the pillow as Jungkook pulled the blankets over him.

For a moment, Jungkook simply stood there, looking down at him. The tension in his chest eased slightly at the sight of Jimin’s calm expression, though his own exhaustion was beginning to weigh heavily on him.

Jungkook pulled a chair closer to the bed, sinking into it as he rested his elbows on his knees. His eyes remained on Jimin, thoughts racing but unable to settle. He had never felt this protective before—this desperate to shield someone from the world’s cruelty.

A soft knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. The maid entered quietly, carrying a tray with a glass of water and a folded blanket. "Shall I leave this here, sir?" she asked in a whisper.

"Yes, thank you," Jungkook replied, his voice low but steady.

The maid set the items down and left without another word, closing the door softly behind her.

Jungkook picked up the blanket, unfolding it and draping it over Jimin for extra warmth. As he adjusted it, his hand lingered near Jimin’s, his fingers brushing against his own. A sigh escaped him as he leaned back in the chair, his gaze never leaving Jimin.

As Jungkook sat beside Jimin's bed, quietly watching over him, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence. He quickly grabbed it, seeing Jimin's parents were calling. His stomach twisted nervously, but he took a deep breath and answered in a low, careful tone.

"Jungkook," Mrs. Park's voice came through, sharp and filled with worry. "Where is Jimin? We've seen the news. Why didn't you tell us? Why did you lie to us about him being okay?"

Jungkook’s heart sank. He hadn’t expected the news to spread this quickly. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Park. Jimin is safe now. He's here with me, at my place. I didn’t want to worry you before I had everything under control."

"Safe?" Mr. Park’s voice cut through, furious. "We saw the reports. How could you not tell us he was kidnapped, Jungkook? We should have known, we’re his parents!"
