The silence was the manifestation of their unanimous bewilderment.

As if the surprises did not stop coming one by one on that day, once again they were faced with something unexpected, a solution to an event for which no one had prepared.

That news was even greater, something that hadn't been done to maintain the clans individually, pure, so to speak. Nonetheless, it was nothing new, among the shifters there were couples that were called non-bound, those between different species and not from the same clan.

However, they didn't usually occur between the main clans, in fact that had never happened. Other shifter clans that didn't belong to the 13 had the practice, it was very common among the Rabbit Clan or the Hyena Clan, for example, although any shifter who fell in love with another regardless of their species had every right to establish a mating bond.

It was not forbidden, even less if it was between an alpha and an omega, where the omega could conceive children of both species without problem, since the differences of species in the "mother" and the "father" were irrelevant, since their progeny didn't come out mixed, for it respected an animal of each genetics.

In short, an omega could have children of both species, their own and the alpha with whom they conceived them.

Even so, among the 13 Clans, the chiefs married mainly female omegas of the same clan and species, and in this way the main representative family held the line for the firstborn alpha who would lead.

So, why had they decided to make a marriage alliance to allow the firstborn omegas to follow in their fathers' footsteps?

The responses weren't immediate and complete, but Minki beat them to it.

"It's not a final decision yet, but it's the most feasible we could come up with," he began to explain, "since omegas don't have leadership capabilities and their bodies aren't made for military work as they're too valuable to risk."

That was a fact, the omegas were very cared for and protected, because the shifters valued family and reproduction, the continuity of their species.

"We cannot continue as has always been done with secondary gender differences."

They already knew that, since they presented as omegas. The boys were not blind to the reality that they wouldn't be allowed to be chiefs as planned. Not in the traditional sense of the word at least.

"But we cannot move the line because if you were born firstborn of your clan it is because the spirits decided so and we are not going to relegate your position to someone else."

Some had siblings. Joshua had his sister Binnie, Junhui his brother Renjun and Jihoon his sister Chaerin. The rest were the only child of the family. It was not viable.

"However, even if you cannot be chiefs in the traditional sense of the word, you are not incapable of representing your clans, although an omega cannot be allowed to take such a dangerous role and against their nature" Minki sighed, he could see the mixed feelings among all the boys. "We believe that your role is more important: an opportunity for a greater alliance between clans. A blood alliance. Of marriage."

"Are you going to marry us off?" Jihoon spoke, being the first to break the silence of the boys, no longer caring about the formalities. He seemed to wake up from his mental derangement, looking up at the alpha chief with a frown.

The alpha boys already had their role as leaders assured, but that concerned them equally, they weren't detached because there were 13 of them and from the beginning they knew that the Clans had to act together and not individually.
