Chapter 38: (your pov)
The next morning, I woke up feeling groggy and disoriented. My cheek still throbbed from the slap. I forced myself out of bed, ready to keep up appearances and not give anyone more reasons to scold me. I took a long shower, hoping the water would wash away some of the stress and fear that clung to me.
After getting dressed, I stepped out onto the balcony to clear my mind. I opened the balcony door, and as I stood there the fresh air was a small comfort, and I closed my eyes, I was loving the Atmosphere, it was windy today, taking a deep breath.
My relief was a short emotion, but When I opened my eyes, I noticed something strange on the ground below in the garden-a sign with the number "5" written on it. My heart skipped a beat. It stopped completely for a few seconds.
Y/n: Five days.
I whispered to myself, a sense of urgency and panic setting in. What did it mean? Five days for what? Did someone really know who I was here ? Why would someone haunt me like that ? I can't believe, No, No, No jungkook can't find out about this, no he shouldn't. My mind raced with possibilities, none of them comforting.
I ran down the stairs and out into the garden, my eyes scanning the area for any clues or signs of what the number could mean. But there was nothing. The garden was quiet, the morning sun casting a serene glow over the flowers and trees. It was as if the sign had never been there.
I returned to the house, my mind still buzzing with questions. I had to keep moving, keep up appearances. Jungkook and his family couldn't suspect that anything was wrong. I had to stay strong, for my sake and for the slim chance that I could escape this nightmare.
As I walked back into the house, my mind still reeling from the mysterious sign, I saw Jungkook sitting in the sofa room, deeply engrossed in his paperwork. He was signing some documents and checking others, his expression serious and focused. Our eyes met briefly, his gaze cold and assessing, making me feel as if he could see right through me. I quickly looked away and made my way to the kitchen, hoping to find a moment of solace.
In the kitchen, I poured myself a glass of juice, the cool liquid soothing my parched throat. But my moment of respite was cut short when I heard footsteps approaching. I quickly gulped down the juice just as Lady Hwasa entered, her presence commanding the room.
Hwasa: There's an event today at the mansion.
Her tone was matter-of-fact, giving no room for questions or objections. My heart sank. An event meant more eyes on me, more opportunities for mistakes, and more chances for Jungkook's wrath.
Y/n: What kind of event?
I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Lady Hwasa looked at me with a hint of disdain.
Hwasa: It's a business gathering. Important people will be here, and we need everything to be perfect. You'll help with the preparations.
I nodded, my mind already racing with thoughts of what needed to be done. The pressure of the mysterious "five days" and the immediate demands of the event felt overwhelming.
Y/n: Yes, Lady Hwasa. I'll get started right away.
Hwasa: Good. And remember, no mistakes.
With that, she turned and left the kitchen, leaving me to gather my thoughts and plan my tasks. I took a deep breath and began organizing everything that would be needed for the event. The kitchen staff was already bustling about, and I joined them, making sure to stay out of their way while still contributing as much as I could.
Hours passed in a blur of activity. I helped set up the dining area, arrange the table settings, and make sure every detail was perfect. The florists arrived, and I assisted them in placing the arrangements around the mansion. I worked tirelessly, my body moving on autopilot while my mind remained preoccupied with the looming deadline of five days.
