It had been a couple of weeks since the Easter Break, and the emotional state of Clary and Alison's relationship had returned back to normal. Although things were alright now, it did take one heated argument between them until Alison realised the insanity of her accusations. That she, too, realised that Clary was indeed fifteen and Mary's uncle was over forty years old. But boy, had the whole Slytherin common room been thick with tension when Alison had finally addressed her issue with Clary's behaviour during the Easter Break.
"I barely got to spend time with you when we were at Mary's!" Alison had complained, placing her hands on her hips as her dark blue eyes locked with Clary. Clary, who was standing near the fireplace, shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest, defecive look in her eyes.
"We NEVER see Mary's uncle. I spend every day and night with you when we're at school!" Clary had defended herself. Alison had merely groaned and placed her fingers over her forehead.
"And mind you, I am 15. Mary's uncle is FOURTY YEARS OLD!" Clary had screamed. The words caused amused chuckling among other Slytheirns, who were witnessing the argument between Clary and Alison.
A mixture of understanding and annoyment flickered in Alison's as she, too, realised the insanity of her accusations. She sighed deeply, shaking her head as she allowed her hands to drop to the sides of her body.
"Alright", she muttered, eyes locked to her feet. "You're right."
Clary merely smirked as she walked across the room, wrapping her arms around Alison and placing a tender kiss on her forehead.
"Sorry", Alison mumbled, resting her head against Clary's shoulder.
"It's alright", Clary chukled, glancing at Mary over her shoulder.
So dramatic, she mouthed, before turning back to Alison and adding:
"Besides, you're kinda cute when you're jealous."
Mary grinned and shook her head before following the two girls to their chambers.

After Clary and Alison had finally cleared the air between them, Mary felt like she could breathe. Now, she didn't have to work as an owl between Clary and Alison. Now, she didn't have to explain the surrouding students that the situation wasn't as bad as it seemed, that there is no need to contact the Ministry. And now, Mary could safely leave them alone in the Girls' Dormitory and go to see Severus in his room.
"Well hello there", Severus muttered, his eyes lighting up as he opened the door to his personal chamber, seeing Mary standing behind the door.
"Hi", Mary breathed, looking at Severus with a small smile on her lips.
"Come in", Severus spoke softly, opening the door wider, letting Mary inside his room.
The room was warm and dimly lit, only a couple of candles flickering on both of his nightstands and on his desk. Mary's eyes swept around the room whilst Severus closed the door. As Mary's eyes landed back on Severus, a small, teasing smile spread on her lips.
"Candles? How romantic", she giggled. Severus rolled his eyes and shook his head as he crossed the room, sliding his hands around Mary's waist.
"Are you complaining?" he murmured, pressing his forehead against Mary's.
Mary merely smirked and shook her head.
"Good."
They stood there for a long moment—just breathing. His presence was steadying, like the cold stone beneath her feet. But Mary could feel it, the weight behind his silence. Like there was something he hadn't said. Something eating at the edge of him.
