A/N: Hello readers and thank you for your lovely comments! And no, I am not dead LOL. Anyway, here is the chapter, I hope you enjoy it:)
Have a nice day,
Lulu
It had been a couple of days since Mary had heard about Harry, Ron and Hermione going through the trap door and ending up in the hospital wing. And as the school year was about to end, it was hard not to ignore the fact that soon Mary would have to leave again and not see her friends for the entire summer. Or at least that is what Mary told herself. Because in reality, it was not the Weasley twins, Emily or even Clary and Ali whom Mary was going to miss the most. No, it was a certain dark-haired professor, who was currently sitting by his desk, organizing exams.
"You are staring", Severus mumbled without taking his eyes off the pile of exams. A rush of heat rose to Mary's cheek as she quickly turned her gaze back to her book.
"No I'm not", she muttered and pretended to be very focused on the words lying in front of her eyes.
Severus dropped his quill and took a deep breath, crossing his arms has his dark gaze finally rose to Mary.
"You've been eyeing me at least seventy times in these past three hours", Severus pointed out, raising an eyebrow. "What is it?"
And now it was here, the question Mary had been afraid of. Or more like, the answer to that question. Because what if Severus thought she was clingy? What if he'll laugh?
Mary took a shaky breath and closed the book she had been pretending to read.
"I... Um..." she started, her eyes wandering around the classroom. Severus gave Mary a "Get over with it" look.
Mary stopped rambling and steadied her voice.
"The school year is ending, and the summer holiday is about to begin", she started.
"Pointing out the obvious", Severus replied with a flat voice, but a playful glitter lingered in the corner of his eyes.
"Well, I just... I am going to miss you, okay? Two months without you feels like a long time..."
Severus smirked. "Two months without me or two months without se-"
Mary threw a book at Severus before he could finish the sentence. Severus caught the book.
"Idiot." she muttered.
"Throwing a book at a professor and then calling him an idiot? Hmm, I think someone needs to be reminded of manners."
Mary's face felt suddenly very hot.
"But you were making a point, please go on. We can save your... reminder for later."
Mary nearly groaned and covered her face with her hands as she tried to gather herself after Severus' teasing.
"Mary." Severus' soft voice was suddenly much closer than it had been only seconds ago. And suddenly, his warm hands took Mary's in his and gently guided them away from her face.
"I'm going to miss you too", he admitted, locking his onyx eyes with hers.
"You... You are?"
Severus rolled his eyes. "Of course I am."
He then sifted so that he was resting his knee on the floor next to Mary's chair, still holding onto her hands.
"You're not going to propose, are you?" Mary grinned.
Severus snorted and shook his head. "Not yet."
Mary giggled.
"The only proposal I am going to make now", Severus continued, a warm smile on his thin lips, "is to ask you to come and stay with me this summer."
Mary blinked. Twice. Then one more time.
"With... With you?"
Severus nodded. "Yes. Not the whole summer, of course. I understand you want to spend time with your uncle and friends as well... But a couple of weeks, at least."
And before Mary could even process the whole information, she found her lips forming the word "Yes" and practically knocking Severus over as she jumped into his arms.
But before Severus could even respond to Mary, another voice interrupted them.
"Oh god, you guys didn't get engaged, did you?" Clary, who was now standing by the door of the classroom, groaned in annoyance and interlaced her arms over her chest.
Severus gave Clary and Alison (who was standing next to the pale Slytherin girl) a very disapproving look.
"First of all, learn to knock. Five points from Slytherin", Severus muttered as he climbed up from the floor. "And second...", he took Mary's hand and pulled her up as well, "why is it that you women make everything about getting married?"
Clary and Alison grinned at each other before turning their eyes back to Severus and Mary, who were still holding each others' hands.
"Oh I am sorry, Professor. I was just curious about my essay", Clary said, a mockingly polite tone in her voice. Severus rolled his eyes and turned his back as he walked back to his desk.
"Your paper, Smith." Severus muttered as he handed a thick roll of parchment to Clary. "It sucked, by the way."
Clary pretended to be clutching her pearls.
"Here's yours, Murphy", Severus added as he handed Alison another thick roll of parchment. "It was surprisingly good."
"Surprisingly? Do you mean that my essay's aren't usually good?" Alison asked. Severus gave Alison a deadpan look.
"Yes, that is exactly what I mean."
Clary and Alison howled in laughter.

The soft shimmer of firelight danced on the stone walls as Mary lied on her bed, listening to the soft sound of Clary's and Alison's breathing. She was playing with the dragonfly hairpin Severus had given her when he was just a "Half-Blood Prince".
Somehow, all the past months from the moment she first laid eyes on Severus to today's shared moment in his classroom played in front of her eyes like a movie. And every time, that movie ended to those two words Severus had said today.
"Not yet."
