Dig Dug - 2
"They're here to destroy the vines."
Y/N POV:
Joyce hurried outside to greet Bob, and after a few minutes, she returned with him. Bob waved at me and Mike before Joyce brought him over to a wall covered in drawings. Will came in, and we all joined Bob as he examined the drawings.
"Hmm," Bob said, impressed, as he continued staring at the drawings. Then he turned his head towards Will. "You drew all these yourself?" he questioned. Will nodded silently. "Why exactly?" Bob added.
"I told you the rules. No questions," Joyce said firmly, beginning to walk into the kitchen. "We just need you to help us figure out what," she added, glancing back to see Bob still looking at the drawings. "Bob?" she called, trying to get his attention. "Bob? Bob!" My mom tapped Bob shoulder to get his attention as snapped out of his trance and followed Joyce, along with me,My mom, Arlo, Will, and Mike, into the kitchen.
Bob walked into the kitchen, still staring at the pictures in wonder. Joyce grabbed a red crayon and drew a large X on the paper she had stuck up on the wall. "We just need your help figuring out where this is," she instructed.
Bob bent down to look at the drawing. "That's the objective. Find the X," Mike added.
"Yeah? What's at the X? Pirate treasure?" Bob chuckled.
"Bob. No questions," Joyce repeated firmly.
Bob sighed, then looked around the room for a second. "Can I talk to you for a second? Hang on, guys," he said, taking Joyce's hand and leading her into her room.
"Did you try to reach for them, Y/n?" Arlo asked me as we all gathered around the table.
"Yeah, I tried, but I couldn't find them," I responded. "They must be out of my range."
"We'll find them, honey," my mom reassured me, though I could sense the worry in her voice, knowing she was also trying to reassure herself.
Just then, Bob and Joyce emerged from her room, with Bob clearly engrossed in something, gesturing and pointing at places on the puzzle-like drawings. "Okay, I get it, that's Lake Jordan. And if that's Lake Jordan, you'll probably find... Yeah, that's uh, Sattler's Quarry. And if you just follow it naturally, it moves to... The Eno River. And there it is, that's the Zeno. Do you see it?" Bob explained, with Mom and Joyce following him closely as he pointed out various locations. Meanwhile, we four sat on the stable, watching him intently.
"Okay, if the lines aren't roads, but they act like roads. And they act like roads because when you follow them, you'll see... They don't go over water. And that's the giveaway. That's the giveaway. HA! Don't you get it? It's not a puzzle. It's a map. It's a map of Hawkins!" Bob exclaimed, finishing his explanation in the kitchen. Me, Arlo, Will, and Mike exchanged concerned glances, while Mom and Joyce's jaws dropped in astonishment.
