"Did I ever called you bullshit?"

Y/N POV:

Sitting in the library during lunch that day, Steve, Nancy, and I were engrossed in our homework, furiously scribbling down answers and hoping for the best.

Suddenly, the silence was broken by the sharp sound of a pencil snapping. I looked up to see Nancy, a distressed expression on her face, making her way to the pencil sharpener.

"Did you talk to Nancy?" I asked Steve, who seemed oblivious to her distress as he continued working on his assignment.

"About what?" he asked, glancing at me in confusion.

"Are you serious, Steve? She's been stressing about Barb's case. Go talk to her, idiot," I said, facepalming at his apparent lack of awareness.

Nodding, Steve quickly stood up, leaving his homework behind, and headed toward Nancy, who was still at the pencil sharpener.

Entering the party with Nancy and Steve, the atmosphere immediately enveloped us in a whirlwind of laughter and music. The room was adorned with Halloween decorations, and the flickering lights cast eerie shadows across the dance floor.

I engaged in conversation with some of my classmates when, suddenly, the new kid appeared next to me. His presence prompted the others to discreetly walk away as he signaled for them to leave us alone.

"Y/N L/N, right?" he asked, and I looked at him in surprise before nodding in acknowledgment.

"Yes," I replied, unsure of what to expect.

"The name's Billy Hargrove," he said, smirking, and I couldn't help but sense an air of confidence around him.

"Nice to meet you, Hargrove. Welcome to Hawkins," I said, extending a welcoming hand. He looked down at my hand before grabbing it firmly, the intensity of his gaze sending a shiver down my spine.

"The pleasure's all mine, Y/N," he replied with a grin, his eyes locking onto mine.

"You know, your boyfriend has been glaring at me non-stop," Billy remarked, and I looked at him, confused. He gestured behind me, and when I turned, I saw Steve staring—or more accurately, glaring—at us.

"Oh no, he's not my boyfriend," I said, turning to Billy.

"Really? From what I heard around, everyone said you're his girlfriend," Billy commented.

"Oh, no, no, no. I'm not his girlfriend. I'm just his best friend. He already has a girlfriend," I explained, hoping to clear up any misunderstandings. As I spoke, I could still feel Steve's eyes on us, and the situation became more awkward by the second.
