The Mind Flayer - 2
"But he can't spy if he doesn't know where he is."
Y/N POV:
Now, we're in Byers' house, with me, Mike, Max, and Lucas sitting around the kitchen table, while Arlo and Dustin stand nearby. My sister and Steve are standing behind us. My mom is with Joyce, comforting her in Joyce's room. Meanwhile, my dad and Hopper are on the phone. Hopper is calling for military backup to go back into the lab and get Owens out.
"Sam Owens," Hopper said urgently. "Dr. Sam Owens. I don't know how many people are there! I don't know how many people are left alive! I am the police! Chief Jim Hopper! Yes, the number that I gave you, yes. 6767... I will be here."
Clicking the phone down, the kids, Steve, and I focused our attention on Hopper and Dad, waiting for a response.
"They didn't believe you, did they?" Dustin asked, his hands resting on the table.
"We'll see," Hopper said simply, turning around to face us.
"We'll see?" Mike cried, his voice laced with irritation. "We can't just sit here while those things are loose."
"We stay here, and we wait for help," Dad demanded, then both he and Hopper went to where Mom and Joyce were in the room.
Following Dad and Hopper's instructions, we stayed silent and waited anxiously. It felt like an eternity until Mike finally stood up. He walked over and took the game which Bob must had brought for Will.
"Did you guys know that Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV?" Mike asked us. I looked down, feeling guilty for saving him..
"Really?" Lucas asked, leaning forward in his seat.
"Yeah, he petitioned the school to start it and everything," Arlo said as Mike walked over to the table.
"Then he had a fundraiser for equipment. Mr. Clarke learned everything from him," Mike added.
"He was pretty awesome, right?" I said as my sister walked over to me and gave my shoulder a squeeze.
"Yeah," Arlo, Dustin, Mike, and Lucas nodded in unison as Mike placed the toy on the table.
"We can't let him die in vain," Mike said.
"What do you want to do, Mike?" Dustin snapped, looking up at his friend. "Hopper and L/n are right on this. We can't stop those Demo-dogs on our own."
"Demo-dogs?" Max scoffed, narrowing her eyebrows at Dustin.
"Demogorgon..." Dustin explained, using hand gestures to prove his point. "Dogs. Demo-dogs. It's like a compound. It's like a play on words—"
"Okay," Max said, her eyes widening a bit.
"I mean, when it was just Dart, maybe..." Dustin shrugged.
