FALINE'S POV:

The evening sun hung low in the sky, drenching the city in its light. The trees and grass all lay still and calm. My slender frame peeked over the horizon, strolling along merrily with my headphones plugged into my ears, listening to New Divide by Linkin Park.

My head bobbed up and down as I walked home, humming a tune and thinking about today's activities. I had been on a hangout with April to the movie theatre and to McDonald's for dinner, but now it was time for me to return home to the sewers.

I slowed as I neared a tall metal wire fence. I stopped to look through. It was the city's junkyard. Inside were piles upon piles of rubbish, rubble and scrap metal. I shrugged and turned in the direction of the alleyway with the manhole cover to the sewers.

Before I started walking however, I sensed movement from nearby. I took out my headphones to listen, glancing up toward the rooftops. There I saw a tall figure jump off the roof and landed on the ground before me.

It was Donnie. He wore a satchel bag on his shoulder and he smiled as he approached me standing there by the fence.

"Hey, Faline. What'CHA doing?" he asked me smiling.

"Hi, Donnie," I squeaked happily. "I was just on my way home. You wouldn't believe what happened at my hangout with April today. We went to see Kung Fu Panda 3 at the movies..."

"Um that's quite alright, Faline. I was just..." Donnie tried to interrupt my story but he wasn't fast enough.

"I told her I haven't seen it, I've only seen the first two back in San Francisco; the first one with my mum and the second with my dad..."

"Uh-huh."

"And April said she'd also seen the first two movies with her dad when she was a kid and the Kung Fu inspired her to have an interest in Ninjitsu..."

"I'm sure that was very fun."

"Wait aren't Kung Fu and Ninjitsu two totally different things? Anyways I my favourite part was when Po met his birth dad it was such an emotional scene."

"Well, Faline. That all sounds very interesting, but I really need to get going," Donnie stated bluntly as he turned to leave.

I continued my story even as I lost Donnie's attention.

"I imagined if I met a family member who I thought was dead for years or never knew about," I finished with a chuckled before I realised Donnie had walked away.

I quickly jogged after him.

"Hey, where are you going, Donnie?"

"I'm heading to the junkyard to collect scrap metal for my newest invention I'm building. But I need to hurty. I really don't want to be out here after dark. There have been reports of thugs in the city recently so I definitely have to get some parts today. Come to think of it, I should've done this earlier but I was so caught up in training that I lost track of time." Donnie looked up as he walked.
