Elder Caius stepped forward to regain the attention of the crowd, his voice resonating with authority and purpose. "These six selected will be your leaders," he announced, gesturing towards the illuminated figures standing before the assembly.
As he spoke, the six chosen candidates reached up to grasp the symbols that floated above them. With a confident gesture, they each caught their respective symbols just before they could touch the ground, securing them as the ethereal lights gradually faded away. This act symbolized their acceptance of their roles and the responsibilities that came with them.
Elder Caius then addressed the remaining candidates, his voice firm and clear. "I invite each of you to align yourselves with the leader whom you believe will best guide you," he instructed, signaling the beginning of a new phase in the selection process. The candidates, now free to choose their allegiances, began to move towards the leaders they felt most drawn to.
Sophie watched as her friends Mia and Pita confidently walked towards her, their faces showing a mix of excitement and resolve. To her surprise, Randall is a candidate as well and stepped forward to join her group, along with his friend and another girl whose names Sophie has not know yet. The sight of Randall, typically a source of irritation for her, now sparked a complex blend of emotions. Seeing him choose her as a leader, despite their past encounters.
Elder Caius surveyed the assembled groups, each cluster forming around one of the six chosen leaders. Satisfied with the distribution, he addressed the gathering once more, his voice carrying across the open field to reach every ear.
"So that makes six teams, each with six members," Caius announced, his tone imbued with a sense of finality and expectation. "For the forthcoming competitions that lead to the throne, these will be your teams. Together, you will face the challenges laid out in the trials, and your ability to work cohesively will be crucial to your success."
He paused to let the information sink in, observing the reactions among the candidates and the crowd. "Remember, the trials are designed not only to test your individual strengths but also your ability to unite under leadership, to strategise collectively, and to support one another through adversities. The path to leadership is not walked alone."
The candidates nodded, some with determination, others with a hint of nervous anticipation.
As Elder Caius concluded his remarks, he raised his hands to settle the crowd and the newly formed groups. "Let everyone take this time to rest and prepare," he announced clearly, ensuring his voice reached every corner of the field. "The competition will commence in the coming days. Use this period wisely to strengthen your bonds and strategize, for once the trials begin, your leadership and teamwork will be put to the test."
He paused to let his words resonate with the assembly, adding, "That's all for today. Thank you." With that, the field gradually quieted down as the energy shifted from the excitement of formation to the anticipation of preparation.
The candidates began to disperse, some discussing initial strategies and others getting better acquainted with their new teammates.
