As the first light of dawn touched the kingdom, King Solarius issued a royal decree announcing the commencement of the ancient selection trials for the throne. The kingdom stirred with a mix of anticipation and solemn reverence, preparing to witness a ceremony rooted deeply in the legendary era of the Light and Shadow Kings. This significant event was not only set to potentially decide their next ruler but also to reaffirm the kingdom's profound connection to both the divine and their cherished ancestral traditions.

As the elite students at the academy grappled with the weight of the upcoming selection trials, the realization dawned that their deep engagement with the kingdom's lore and politics could directly involve them in the trials themselves. Having studied the ancient rites and prophecies extensively, they understood that participating in such a pivotal event could not only affect the kingdom's governance but also significantly alter their own destinies.

The prospect of being part of the selection meant that every lesson and every discussion they had participated in was potentially preparation for their own testing. The thought intensified the atmosphere among the elites, turning every spar in the training yards and every debate in the classrooms into a prelude to potential selection.

Conversations among the students grew more serious and strategic, with discussions focusing on the virtues and skills that the trials were rumoured to test: wisdom, valour, and integrity. They speculated on how these trials would be conducted and what qualities  of a leader would the Gods chose for the kingdom.

All students were summoned to the grand stadium where the headmaster, known widely as Master Thelonius, repared to address the gathered assembly. Positioned before the multitude of eager faces, Master Thelonius's voice carried the weight of history and the anticipation of the future.

"Esteemed students, attend closely to the grave duty that now beckons," Master Thelonius began, his tone steeped in the wisdom of his many years within the academy's venerable halls. "The ancient rites of selection, as ordained by our ancestors, are upon us. This epoch marks not only a pivotal moment for our kingdom but also for this very institution, which has long served as a crucible for leadership and valor."

He paused, allowing the gravity of his words to resonate with the students, then continued, "It is thus decreed that our most distinguished pupils, the elite among you, shall engage in these trials to prove their mettle and their mastery. Furthermore, any among you who possesses the courage and the determination may also step forward. Proceed to my office to register your name, that you might join this noble selection."

His announcement stirred a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation among the students. The opportunity to participate in such a historic event was both a significant honor and a formidable challenge. As Master Thelonius concluded his address, he added an important note regarding the impact of the selection on academy life.

"This selection may disrupt our normal schedule here at the academy, as both students and staff will be involved in the preparations and the ongoing processes of the trials. We shall all take part in this momentous event of our era. According to the ancient scripts, the selection could last months or even a year. Therefore, there will be no classes or matches in the arena until the selection concludes. Take this moment to learn and observe, as this once-in-a-lifetime event unfolds. We are now participants in making the  history."

With this, the students dispersed, some deep in contemplation, others animatedly discussing the implications. They understood that they were not just witnessing history but were actively contributing to it, a realization that brought both gravity and excitement to their roles in the coming days.

However, for one student in particular, the statement "no matches at the arena" resonated differently. Sophie felt a mixture of relief and disorientation; she was overwhelmed by the sudden reprieve. It seemed almost as if the gods themselves had intervened to save her from the upcoming challenges in the arena.

Mia noticed Sophie's conflicted expression and leaned in, her voice low and supportive. "It's like the universe is giving you a break, Sophie. Maybe this is your chance to catch your breath and prepare for what's next without the pressure of the arena looming over you."

Pita, ever the observer, added, "It's not just about escaping the matches. This could be an opportunity for you to explore different aspects of duel and perhaps discover strengths you didn't know you had.
