It's another ordinary day for an extraordinary employee like me - where I start working at eight in the morning, then go home at five in the afternoon.
I take the bus from my small apartment unit so I pass by several tall buildings before I get to my destination. At the bus seat, I quickly finish my sandwich and coffee while I eye the busy streets of the city. Seoul is still so beautiful despite the threats everywhere.
I quietly look up at the huge billboard ads on the buildings which don't often change. Unlike the old times when it's all about consumer ads - nowadays, news about the current condition of the city is more important for the people.
Just like wherever in the world right now, Seoul is still swarming with dungeons full of unidentified monsters. These dungeons just appeared out of nowhere a long time ago - they're like warp zones, some are big, most are small. I've never been inside one because they're off limits to the public.
Of course, it's because at the other side of the dungeon is a world of different creatures and monsters. Since technology nowadays is already advanced, the opening to these portals were being stabilized by newly invented machines so that no monster can come out from it and enter the city.
However, they're not enough especially when a powerful class of monsters are living in the dungeons. Our normal guns and tanks aren't enough to kill these predators. Thankfully, the world weren't abandoned completely - there came a time when extraordinary powers emerged from individuals gifted with them.
These traits develop from as early as the age of five. Then they become more and more powerful as they age, forming specialties where they get trained so they can fight for the people and serve the country by keeping our cities safe and free from monsters.
These individuals are called Espers.
Ah, there in that advertisement-- Just like him - he has the biggest billboard ads all over the city thanking him for protecting us with his great powers, especially at his private agency's building which is the biggest in Seoul.
