Chapter 35

After the girls left and Ruka came back with Hiro's car, we went to the beach. I walked to where the water would touch my feet and folded my arms, starting out at the water. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes for a moment. Without physically speaking the words, I told my mom that I loved her and I miss her. I told her that I would be ok, I have some amazing friends around me, I have Hiro, and I, of course, have dad. I thanked her for being my mom and that I know she's ok.

A tear rolled down my cheek when I opened my eyes, but I smiled as I stared out at the water with the clear blue sky as the backdrop. I wiped my eyes as I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I turned to Hiro, wrapping my arms tightly around his waist and resting my head on his chest. He stroked my hair gently as he kissed the top of my head. I smiled more before looking up to meet his dark brown eyes.

"What?" Hiro asked with a warm smile.

"Just thinking how amazing you are." I said softly.

"Am I amazing?" Hiro's smile widened.

"Yes." I giggled. "You are. I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me. And you didn't have to do any of it. Especially paying off my mom's house."

"I'd do it all again if I had to." Hiro locked his eyes with mine. "I told you, I care about you, and just like I told your dad. I want to see you happy, I'd do anything to see you happy and smiling, baby."

"You make me smile even when it's hard to smile." I admitted. "The past few weeks have been a roller coaster ride, but you've made me happier than I thought I would be."

Hiro smiled in response. "You deserve to be happy." I placed my hands on his shoulders, leaning up to place a soft kiss on his cheek. "What was that for?" He asked softly.

"Because I appreciate everything you've done for me." I smiled.

Hiro smiled as he nodded as he rubbed the back of his neck. "We should get you back so you can meet up with your dad."

"Will you come too?"

Hiro gave a nod. "If you want me to."

"Please." I nodded.

"Ok, but I want food."

I giggled. "Ok."

Hiro shoved his hands into his pockets as we walked to his car. We got back to the house, and I changed into some jeans and a tank top. I put my hair up with a hair stick and then grabbed my hoodie after putting on my boots. I grabbed my phone, wallet, and keys.

"I'm going to run by my place so I can shower and change." Hiro said as he looked at his phone.

"Ok." I nodded.

Hiro walked to the door and then stopped. He looked back at me. "Uh, you're coming too."

"Oh, I thought you were going by yourself." I smiled and walked to the door.

"Ladies first." He said as he opened the screen door. I stepped outside as he locked the door and closed it, then closed the screen door. We walked to his car and got in. I looked out the window as he shifted gears.
