Chapter 38

After leaving the beach we arrive at Brody's house. I felt sick to my stomach from being so nervous about this. I slowly got out of Hiro's car as Brody walked over to Hiro. "W-What is going on? What did I do now?"

"Not you. Ayden." Hiro leaned on his fender.

Brody rubbed his face. "What did he do now, Sky?"

"He antagonized me this morning... Then, later, after the third block, he took my phone and was harassing me about Hiro... I snapped out of rage... Like I did the day he put me in the hospital."

Brody shook his head as he ran his hand through his hair. "You're worried he'll do it again?" He looked at Hiro.

"Aren't you?" Hiro asked.

"Of course... I didn't know she snapped at him that day..."

"Well, now we know what triggered him." Hiro nodded. "I need you to call Rich."

Brody stared at him blankly. "W-What? Why?"

"You'll find out when he gets here. Just him, though, Ayden can't be present."

Brody nodded as he pulled out his phone. Owen walked over with confusion. "What's going on?"

"It's ok, Owen." I assured him.

"You sure?" Owen asked. "Did Brody do something to Hiro?"

"No." Hiro shook his head. "Not about me."

"Why are you two being so cryptic?" Owen folded his arms.

"Richard is on the way." Brody said as he walked back towards us.

"R-Richard?" Owen looked at him then at me. "What did Ayden do now?" His jaw clenched.

"Nothing." Hiro said. "Luckily."

Hiro, Brody, and Owen looked towards the vehicle that pulled in the driveway. "Uh, what's this about?" Richard asked as he walked over.

"You remember Sky?" Brody gestured towards me.

"I do. She's the one you and Ayden were fighting over. He hurt her."

Hiro stood up. "He put her in the hospital."

Richard froze and then looked at Hiro. "W-What?"

"Yeah... That day you came by with Ayden.." Brody said as Richard looked at him.

"You mean to tell me that he hurt her that bad?" Richard raised his brows in shock. "Good lord... Brody, why didn't you say anything then? You knew I was putting him in anger management."

"Sky was afraid to say anything." Hiro said.

"H-How were the police not involved?" Richard asked.

"I told them I had a bike accident..." I said softly.

Richard fully faces me. "Why would you do that?"

"I didn't want to get the police involved." I said softly.

"I mean, I understand that, but he hurt you that bad... You should have told someone immediately."

"He's been harassing her..." Brody folded his arms.

Richard looked at him and then looked at me. "Is that true?"

I nodded. "Yes, sir."

Richard nodded. "He won't bother you anymore, I promise. I'm so sorry he hurt you."

"Don't be." I said softly.

"What are you going to do?" Brody asked.

"I have to make some phone calls first." Richard said. "He won't be at school anymore. I can tell you that much."

Owen and Brody looked at each other. Hiro nodded. "It was important for you to know the truth." Hiro said.

"I appreciate it." Richard nodded.

Richard left, and Brody let out a deep breath. "So, he won't be in school tomorrow."

"Wonder what Richard is going to do." Owen said.

"As long as he's not harassing Sky, that's all that matters." Brody looked at Hiro. "Right?"

"Right." Hiro gave a nod. "Thank you."

Brody raised his brows. "Uh... You're welcome."

Hiro looked at me. "Ready to head back, baby?"

"Yeah." I nodded and walked to the car door.

"Are you two official now?" Owen asked with a smile.

"No." Hiro said as he got in the car.

I got in the car and buckled up. I looked at him for a moment, then looked down at my hands. Hiro started the car and backed out of Brody's driveway. I slowly looked towards Hiro again as he shifted gears. His eyes shifted towards me for a moment. "What?"

"Nothing. I was thinking." I said softly as I looked forward.

"About?" Hiro asked.

"You." I responded.

"Me?" Hiro repeated.

I nodded as he parked in front of my house. I got out of his car as he got out. I walked to the door, unlocked it, and then turned to him as he got closer. His dark eyes locked on mine. "Phoebe said something the other day... When all the girls were here." I said as I walked inside. "I see what she means now."

"What did she say?" Hiro asked as he followed me inside.

"She was telling Riley because she felt like they were replacing her, that the girlfriends weren't there to replace anyone. She told her that you and I were pretty much together and you're like a brother to them, which makes me a sister to them."

"But why are you telling me this, baby?" Hiro asked as he walked closer to me.

I leaned back against the frame to the living room opening. "I want to take things slow." I met his eyes.

Hiro pressed his hand to the frame by my head. "Are you saying you want to be with me?"

I stared into his dark eyes. "Yes, I'm saying I want to be with you, Hiro."

Hiro' s lips curled into a radiant smile. "We'll take things slow, baby." He responded softly.
