Gwen's POV

Townhouse

After my short trip out of town, I returned feeling more empowered than ever.

I had to make sure to keep myself like the others, ready for anything in case outsiders were in the territory.

Yes, what I was doing is a death 💀 penalty by the Alpha, but with how I've been dealing my cards, it's all been going according to plan.

What was my purpose behind all this and helping Dominque for these past couple of years?

I can't lie when I say that cheating on Duncan was a huge mistake on my part, back when we were dating I was very loved by him and he treated me well. Bad boy had a badass girlfriend we were quite the couple and talked about our future together, I even told him that he would make an amazing Alpha.

He would laugh at times when I told him that and thankfully either of his brothers would be a better choice, that for now he wanted to enjoy life and have fun. Then there was his Dad who was constantly disappointed with him and would say harsh things to him.

Needless to say, I hated when he would say that to Duncan, I saw great potential in him and I know he would be 10 times better at being Alpha than his brothers.

One night during a formal party at Duncan's family house, while searching for him I overheard a conversation that made my blood 🩸 boil.

" Listen we're happy you got a girlfriend," says Lincoln " The daughter of the alpha snow wolves pack I'll admit nice work," said John bro hugging Duncan " Thanks I'm happy and I can honestly say we got our plans " Duncan replies making me smile.

" Personal question now don't get mad," says John sounding serious "Have you both mated yet? Have you marked her? " he adds suddenly my smile fades.

" Woah that's quite the question, John...Why would you ask that? " Duncan asked confused "Listen we get you love her just I'm not feeling it with two " explains Lincoln now making me frown "We aren't saying this to discourage you or make you second guess yourself Duncan, but did your heart hit you hard when you first saw her? " asked John sternly.

Hearing that conversation was enough to get me to destroy this house if I wanted, but I wasn't going to especially when I wanted the family house to be in my name one day.

It wasn't just that, the Stone family fortune was beyond imaginable, they have a very comfortable amount of wealth, a strong family lineage, and power in anything you can imagine and I wanted that to be mine.

After that night I did everything and anything to get Duncan to have sex with me so that he could mark me, but nothing I did worked.

We got into a huge argument about it. He asked me why I was so eager to be his mate and my answer was I loved him along with saying that I couldn't imagine my life without him or his life without me.

All the packs have followed the same tradition for as long as one could remember and it was we mate for life with one partner. To love one another, protect each other and forever be faithful to the mate we have chosen to be with.
