On May 27, 1997, a deadly tornado occurred in central Texas in conjunction with a southwestward moving cluster of supercell thunderstorms. These storms produced 20 tornadoes mainly along I-35. It was corridor from northeast of Waco to north of San Antonio. The strongest tornado that day was an EF5 that leveled parts of Jarrell killing 30 people. This tornado is also known as the "dead man walking."
