On April 27, 2024, an EF4 tornado struck Marietta, Oklahoma at 11pm central time zone. The tornado started by crossing I-35 just after 11 before moving to Marietta where one person was killed. The tornado touched down very quickly giving residents little to no warning. The tornado tore through a Dollar Tree warehouse, distribution center, Dollar General store and a Homeland Grocery store. Overall, the tornado caused 4 deaths and many property losses. It was the state's first violent tornado in 8 years.
