On May 20, 2013, there was an extremely violent EF5 tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma. The tornado's winds was 210 miles per hour killing 24 people and injuring 212 others. It also destroyed Plaza Towers Elementary and Briarwood Elementary killing 7 children. The tornado was part of a larger outbreak from a slow-moving weather system that produced several other tornadoes across the Great Plains.
