On June 11, 2008, there was a tornado that started 4 and a half miles west of Little Sioux in Burt County, Nebraska. Numerous trees were damaged. The storm tracked northeast across the Missouri River and I-29 near mile marker 97 where a semi truck flipped on its side. Heading northeast, the tornado snapped power lines and then entered the Little Sioux Scout Ranch. The tornado destroyed the rangers home near the entrance of the park. Then blew down trees and struck a bunkhouse where 4 fatalities occurred. It then hit and damaged a farmstead beginning to dissipate. It was confirmed as a EF3 tornado.
