Louis' POV

After a long journey, we arrive in New Mexico at 4:00 PM. Uncle Greg drives the military vehicle slowly through surroundings covered with fog and ashes. Buildings and establishments are collapsed, and there's no one in sight except for a diversity of zombies. We can't shoot without orders from our commander. Zombies stare blankly at the military vehicle.

"How is this possible? A diversity of zombies," Allie said.

"I told you, we're just slowly passing by here. We can't shoot or cause any trouble right now," Uncle Greg replied.

In the distance, we see broken military vehicles. Sergeant Gregory's colleagues have died and been eaten by zombies. Their army uniforms are torn apart, splattered with blood, and some of their body parts are reduced to bones. The worst part is their heads, forcibly opened, as zombies specifically targeted their brains.

The zombies we're seeing now are the walkers, who move slowly and are less dangerous. But as we continue to drive deeper into New Mexico, the zombies' behavior changes. As the fog clears, another species of zombies spots us clearly and starts approaching our military vehicle.

"Their eyes are glaring, so creepy!" Akira said.

"What species of zombie is that?" Maggie asked, covering Charlie's eyes.

"We call them sharp-eyed because they quickly notice things or humans. They are very observant," Sergeant Maveus informed us.

"Don't worry about them. Sharp-eyed zombies just use their eyes to frighten humans," Sergeant Gregory added.

"Aren't we going to kill them? I'll shoot their glaring eyes," I said.

"As I said, we can't cause any trouble unless the zombies start causing trouble for us," Sergeant Gregory replied.

After some time, the sharp-eyed zombies start blocking the way. We can't pass any further. Zombies stare at us with their glaring eyes. Sergeant Gregory orders Duke and me to fire at them. We start shooting from the top of the military vehicle.

"Shoot their eyes!" I shouted, sniping their eyes and causing their heads to explode. Some sharp-eyed zombies leap toward the military vehicle.

"I'll shoot these ones," Duke said, using his machine gun to take down the zombies that leap. We kill them, but many more are coming, so we get back inside. Sergeant Gregory continues driving as the sharp-eyed zombies blocking our way leave and some escape.

We arrive at an abandoned Walmart store to get food supplies and other necessities. Sergeant Gregory orders Allie, Yvette, and Akira to handle the task, but Sergeant Maveus insists on accompanying them. They get out of the vehicle, holding their weapons.

"Should I go with them, Sergeant Gregory?" Maggie asked.

"Don't worry, Maggie. I have a task for you. You need to contact Dr. Addison to inform her that we're coming with the capsules," Sergeant Gregory said.

"How can I contact her without any communication tools?" Maggie asked.

"Then, start looking for some. There might be something in the Walmart store or somewhere that can help," Sergeant Gregory replied. Maggie looks at him, confused, but she gets ready to leave the vehicle. I offer to help.

"Maggie, should I come with you?" I asked her.

"You can't. Sergeant Gregory ordered this to me. Don't worry, I'll be careful," Maggie said, hugging me and kissing Charlie on the forehead, who is sleeping. Then she gets out of the vehicle, holding her assault rifle.

"Your name is?" Sergeant Gregory suddenly asked.

"I'm Louis Aleck Cole," I said, feeling a bit nervous. I don't know why I told him my full name.

"Louis, are you really serious about my niece?" Sergeant Gregory asked.

"Absolutely, I will risk my life for her," I said proudly.

"You know what, Sergeant Gregory, Maggie and Louis really love and care for each other, just like Allie and me. We can't control their feelings, especially when it comes to love," Duke said.

"I'm just making sure. I'm not against you. I just want the best for my niece. I order you not to hurt her feelings!" Sergeant Gregory said.

"Roger that!" I said softly, smiling at them.

Allie's POV

We start walking inside the abandoned Walmart store. The products are covered with ashes, and the place is a mess. We begin picking up what we need, checking expiration dates before collecting canned goods and other foodstuffs to avoid food poisoning. While we're collecting food, Akira suddenly hears a strange noise nearby.

"Did you hear that? We have to hurry. I feel something's wrong here," Akira said, worried.

"Get behind me. Stay alert!" Sergeant Maveus said, preparing his assault rifle.

Then, plenty of sharp-eyed zombies appear, their eyes glaring as they approach us.

"Looks like we have new customers coming," I said, grinning.

"It's dazzling as they come near us. It feels like my eyes are hurting!" Akira said.

"Let the killing begin!" Yvette said, and we start attacking them.

Blood splatters everywhere in the store as we stab their dazzling eyes non-stop and shoot their bodies without mercy. Their glaring eyes turn bloody red as we kill them. Unfortunately, one of the sharp-eyed zombies bites Sergeant Maveus on his right hand.

"No way, you got bitten, Sergeant Maveus, on your right hand," Yvette said.

"Sorry? I'm not bitten by those sharp-eyed. Let's hurry!" Sergeant Maveus said, hiding his right hand and starting to turn into a zombie as we walk out.

"Sorry, not sorry, Sergeant Maveus. You're done!" Yvette said, stabbing him in the chest with her sword.

We return to the military vehicle with new food supplies, feeling melancholy about what happened to Sergeant Maveus.

"Where's Sergeant Maveus?" Sergeant Gregory asked, worried, seeing our unhappy faces.

"I'm sorry, he couldn't make it," I said.

"He was my great buddy. I can't believe this is the last time we'll see each other," Sergeant Gregory said. Then Maggie comes back with the communication tools she needs, knowing that Sergeant Maveus has turned into a zombie.
