Maggie's POV
I wake up to chaos outside. Allie informs us that zombies are coming into the camp. We immediately wake the others, but Bridget and Celestia are nowhere to be seen. We have no choice but to leave our shelter tent. I hold Charlie's right hand tightly; he is still sleepy, not understanding what's happening.
Even though there are security officers and soldiers, they are still human beings serving the people. But zombies are everywhere, eating them little by little. Louis decides to go back to the isolation room for his grandmother, and Duke goes with him. Allie is worried, but we need to focus on finding our car.
Zombies are approaching us. Allie, on her skateboard, strikes them in the head, splattering blood on her clothes. While holding Charlie tightly, I shoot a zombie approaching us in the head with my left hand, and it explodes in blood.
We run to the gate, but we see plenty of zombies waiting for us, many of them are security officers and soldiers that turned into zombie. We kill some, but we're running out of strength and bullets. Suddenly, a muscular soldier appears, holding an assault rifle and fighting off the zombies. He is Master Sergeant James Woodfill, a soldier who sacrifices himself to protect the people, risking his life.
His last words are, "If this is my end, I want to end it protecting my people!" Unfortunately, he runs out of bullets, and the zombies overtake him, turning him into one of them.
A stranger woman approaches us and shows us another way to escape. We run, but Charlie stumbles and wounds his left knee. I feel his pain and decide to carry him like a baby. We keep running and finally arrive at the back of the camp, where there are no zombies. We see our car parked and get inside. Minutes later, Allie decides to go back to the camp for Duke and Louis. The stranger woman goes with her to help.
Allie's POV
I decide to go back, worried about them. The strange woman goes with me. While running, I ask her, "Where is the isolation room? That's where my friends went."
The stranger woman tells me the easiest way to get there, and we run. Then, I see Duke and Louis fighting several zombies.
"Duke, Louis!" I called out, worried, looking at their bloodied faces.
"Allie, why did you come back? It's dangerous!" Duke said while fighting a zombie. I strike it with my skateboard.
"Because I want to help!" I said, killing the zombie.
Louis is fighting the zombies, and the stranger woman helps him. Louis strikes the zombies with his skateboard and shoots them while the stranger woman kills zombies with her metal rod. Suddenly, Louis is almost bitten, but the strange woman protects him.
"Why did you do that? The zombies bit you instead of me. I'm sorry!" Louis said, in tears.
"Don't be sorry. You're like my son, but I couldn't save him that time. Now I have a chance," the strange woman said before turning into a zombie.
"We're running out of time. Zombies are coming. Let's go to the isolation room!" I shouted. Louis is in shock, but I have to kill the strange woman.
We run to the isolation room and see the door open, blood splattered everywhere. Inside, we see Louis' grandmother eating organs.
"No, it can't be!" Louis shouted, in tears, seeing his grandmother turned into a zombie.
Duke and I get teary-eyed. He has lost someone he loves again, and his grief returns. He sobs near his zombie grandmother.
"We need to leave now, Louis," Duke said softly.
"Zombies are approaching. Let's hurry!" I shouted.
"Go without me!" Louis said softly, grieving.
"Louis, don't do this to us. You need to come with us!" Duke said, worried.
"Maggie needs you. Don't ever leave her!" I shouted.
"I don't want to live anymore. It's over!" Louis shouted, grieving.
We can't do anything. He has decided his fate. Suddenly, Maggie comes in, breathing heavily from running. She sees Louis' grandmother turned into a zombie and approaches him, hugging him tightly.
"I know you're hurting, but please come with me!" Maggie pleaded.
"I'm sorry, Maggie. I want to die here with my grandmother," Louis said softly, in tears.
"No, you will not die here. Let's go back!" Maggie said softly.
Zombies are growling and approaching us.
"Maggie, stop forcing me to go back. I'm on my own now!" Louis shouted.
"You're on your own now? What about me? Why did you kiss me? You made me feel loved even though the world is stained with blood. And now you're going to leave me too. Did you feel what I felt when you kissed me? Because it feels like a curse now. If you want to die here, then die," Maggie shouted back and walks out crying.
"Maggie, I'm sorry!" Louis said as Maggie walks away.
"Louis, for the last time, choose what matters the most right now, even if your special someone is gone," Duke said, and we leave the isolation room.
Though it's heartbreaking to leave, he has made his choice. Suddenly, we hear a gunshot inside the isolation room. Maggie hears it too and comes back to see what happened.
We see that Louis has shot his zombie grandmother. Then, Louis approaches Maggie and hugs her tightly. As we run away, escaping the camp, I see Louis and Maggie holding hands, just like Duke and me.
