Maggie's POV

I still can't believe Sergeant Maveus turned into a zombie. He was a great soldier who served and protected his people. We should continue the mission even if we don't know who will be next. New Mexico is indeed a nightmare you could never imagine, a place with a diversity of zombies living and creating new identities.

Before we continue driving, I try to use the communication tools I found near the Walmart store. I try to get some signal, but it wasn't enough, so Louis and I get up to the top of the military vehicle to find some signal. It works, and I immediately email Dr. Addison about the mission.

Dear Dr. Addison,

How is it going? I'm Maggie. We're on a mission with my friends and Sergeant Gregory Ryder. As of now, we're surviving here in New Mexico, and we hope to meet you in Arizona with the remaining capsules you left. I have so many questions you need to answer, but thank you for making a safe zone for all the survivors. I'm hoping there's still a chance to end this zombie outbreak.

From Maggie.

After some time, we get out of the military vehicle to remove the rocks blocking the way. In the middle of the night, as the full moon appears, we suddenly catch our attention to the sky because there's something flying so strangely in the night sky, and their eyes are glaring too.

"Don't tell me that thing flying in the sky is a freaking zombie," Akira said, trembling.

"Indeed, that's a flying zombie," Sergeant Gregory said.

"How can a zombie have wings? This is really ridiculous," Allie said, worried.

"We call them the Aerial Zombies. They exist or grow in the air rather than on the ground or in water. They are a rare species of zombie that changes form. They have glaring eyes just like the Sharp-Eyed, but the difference is they use their wings to play with humans, frighten them, and eat their brains. They also use their wings to defend themselves," Sergeant Gregory informed us.

"Let's hurry, before it attacks us," Yvette said. While we're coming back to the military vehicle, the Aerial Zombies start attacking after they notice us. The flying zombies look hungry. Sergeant Gregory orders us to shoot them.

"Shoot their wings. That's their weakness," Sergeant Gregory informed us.

We start shooting them from afar, but they start covering themselves with their wings to defend themselves. Some are flying fast and creating irritating noise. We continue shooting some of them. Unexpectedly, Allie is taken away by the zombies in the air. She's screaming for help until an Aerial Zombie runs into the woods with Allie. Duke is worried. He doesn't have a choice but to save her, so he immediately runs into the woods too. Yvette and Akira run after him to help. I want to help them, but Louis and Sergeant Gregory stop me because it's dangerous out there. We get inside the military vehicle, waiting for them to come back.

Duke's POV

I'm running into the woods while looking in the sky, seeing Allie taken away by the zombie in the air. She's screaming and scared, asking for help. I'm worried about her and can't do anything. I try to shoot it with my machine gun, but it only hits the trees as the Aerial Zombie flies faster. Suddenly, I stumble, feeling a headache and realizing I'm lost in the woods so desperately. I see a hunter throw a spear in the air, hitting the wings of the Aerial Zombie exactly, killing it, and Allie falls down somewhere. Her last words are, "I love you, Duke." Suddenly, Yvette and Akira come.

"Where is Allie?" Akira asked.

"She fell down somewhere," I said, breathing heavily.

"Let's find her immediately before the Aerial Zombies come back," Yvette said, and we start walking around, finding Allie where she fell down.

After a long time, we still can't find her, and we're lost in the woods.

"I don't want to die here. How can we go back?" Akira asked, worried.

"We're lost in the woods. It's so dark and terrifying," Yvette said.

"Sorry, Duke, maybe we should go back?" Yvette added.

"We need to find her. I know she's still alive. She just fell down somewhere. If you want to go back, then go. I want to find her on my own," I said, in tears.

"Duke, we're in the middle of the night. We're hopeless here," Akira said, stopping me from going away.

"You can't find her now. You better hide and save yourself. Zombies are still in the air, feeling hungry," a hunter man said.

"Who are you?" Yvette said, pointing her sword.

"Lower your sword, Yvette. He's the hunter who killed the Aerial Zombie that took Allie earlier," I informed her, and she immediately lowers it.

"I'm Lenox, a hunter in the woods," Lenox said.

We continue walking in the woods with the hunter, Lenox, towards his hideout. We run immediately as Aerial Zombies come back. We reach his hideout, seeing other hunters too, who created camps, bonfires, and some are cleaning their weapons.

We come inside the camp tent of Lenox. My head feels pain, and Akira treats my wounds as we spend our night here.

The next day, I wake up early in the morning, seeing Yvette and Akira gone. I get up and come out of the camp tent to find where they are. I see them outside, sitting while cooking something with wood and fire.

"You're awake, Duke," Akira softly said, feeling melancholy.

"Let's find Allie," I said, still feeling pain.

"I'm sorry, Duke, but other hunters found a woman's body earlier, so bloody, I can't recognize her face, but the clothes she wore is indeed Allie," Yvette informed.

"No way. Maybe it's not Allie. It shouldn't be!" I said, sobbing.

"Sorry, Duke," Akira softly said.

"Where is the body? I want to see it," I asked them, and we walk towards it. While walking, I don't know what to feel. I can't live without Allie. As I look at the body, it is indeed Allie.

"We found it near the old tree, with severe broken bones. I guess she fell from the sky so badly," a hunter said.

I touch the body while sobbing, unable to believe Allie is gone. I decide to bury the body and leave a flower on it, saying, "I love you, Allie, with all my heart. I'm sorry I couldn't help you at that moment." After some time, Yvette and Akira decide to find a way out. Lenox tells us a way to get out of the woods easily.
