Kalpana reached home with a radiant smile on her face, her excitement palpable.
Her father, who was sitting in the living room, noticed her happiness and his own face lit up in response.
"Kya baat hai, aaj meri gudiya bahut khush lag rahi hai," he said warmly.
Kalpana looked at him, her eyes sparkling. "Haan baba, baat hi kuch aisi hai! Maa aur bhai kaha hai?"
He replied, "Teri maa aur bhai dono bazaar gaye hai ghar ka saaman lene. Tu baith, main tab tak tere liye chai banate hoon."
She stopped her father gently, "Nahi, aap baitho. Main hum dono ke liye chai bana ke laati hoon."
Her father wanted to protest but she gave him a strict look.
Reluctantly, he agreed and settled back into his chair.
Kalpana quickly freshened up and made tea for both of them.
They sat together, sipping the warm beverage, enjoying the moment of peace and connection.
After two hours, her mother and brother returned home, their arms loaded with shopping bags.
Kalpana rushed to give them water and started inspecting the items they had bought.
Pankaj noticed her curiosity and teased, "Kalpi, kya dhoond rahi hai?"
With a mock pout, she replied, "Bhai, mere liye kuch nahi laaye?"
He grinned at her and said, "Uss dusre bag mein hum dono ke raat ke snacks hai—wafers, Maggie, Coldrinks, aur chocolates."
Her face lit up instantly, and they high-fived each other.
Their mother shook her head, amused. "Bas inhi faltu cheezon mein paise barbaad karte ho. Mujhe toh samajh hi nahi aata ki tum bacche aadhi raat ko khaana hi kyun khaate ho. Jab main time se khaana banake deti hoon tab khaaya nahi jaata."
Their father smiled and chimed in, "Aree rehne do na, bacche hai. Karne do jo karna hai."
She sighed, "Aap hi ke laad pyar ne bigada hai inn dono."
Their playful banter continued, filling the house with laughter and warmth.
Kalpana felt a deep sense of contentment being surrounded by her family.
After a while, Kalpana gathered everyone's attention. "Accha, I want to tell you something," she said, her voice filled with excitement.
They all turned to her, curious.
"Do din baad college mein campus placement start hone wala hai aur main puri koshish karungi ki main kisi acchi company mein select ho jaaun."
Her father's eyes shone with pride. "That's very good! I am proud of you and I am sure that you will get selected."
Her mother nodded in agreement. "Haan, I know you will do it. Lekin beta, please agar select naa bhi hui toh nirash mat hona thik hai? We all are with you."
Kalpana felt a surge of gratitude and love.
She nodded, smiling at her supportive family. "Thank you, Maa. Thank you, Baba. I will do my best."
They all embraced her, their confidence and love giving her the strength she needed.
The room was filled with the warmth of their shared hopes and dreams, and Kalpana knew that no matter what happened, she would always have their unwavering support.
