Halloween was tomorrow, and tonight was the Fall Carnival. The carnival was at our school, and it was a Rio Grande tradition. In case you are wondering, Jackie's party happened a week ago, it didn't happen on Halloween. I was excited for the carnival. It was another time I could wear my costume AND see Toby after school. Ever since I admitted to liking Toby to myself and my friends my life has become a little more fulfilling. For once school is a place that I want to go to, so I can see him. Before I liked Toby, school was kind of like a chore. I hated school, it was boring and a waste of time. Now that I like Toby I get up each morning happy, excited to get on the bus (he rode the same bus as me). Everything felt light and cheery and nothing could bring me down, not even Summer's constant criticism, or Lina's never ending grumpiness, or even Kailah's endless fangirling over One Direction or the newest boy band. I honestly think that nothing can bring me down. Is this what it is like to fall in love? Because I love it.

I get ready for the carnival. Putting on my Greek Goddess Aphrodite costume. Summer and Lina are wearing the same costumes they wore for the party, Summer was a pirate, and Lina was a hippie. Kailah is also going and she told me she was going as an angel. Toby didn't dress up for the party, so I highly doubt he will be dressed up tonight. I get in the car and my mom drives my 4th grade sister and I to the school. I had an older sister, she is Freshmen at Freedom. She is capable of going to the carnival, but I guess she didn't want to. Anyway it took about 10 minutes to get to the school. Right away I look for my friends. I actually think Kailah will hang out with us. Summer is starting to get used to the fact that we are friends, and I think they are starting to get to know each other. I find my friends who were funnel cake.
"Hey guys," I wave.
"Paris you are here!" Exclaims Summer.
"Yeah, I am so excited!" I reply," Did you see Toby yet?" My friends laugh.
"No, but I am sure he is coming," Lina answers. I sit down next to them and join in on the funnel cake.
"So you like Toby?" Kailah asks.
"Yeah, you knew that," I reply.
"Oh, I was joking whenever I said you liked him, but I guess you actually do." We finish the funnel cake and I get up to throw away the garbage. Unfortunately, Bryce happened to be at the trash can the same time I was.
"What are you doing here?" Bryce asks.
"Um, why can't I be here?"
"Because, you are a loser."
"Umm thanks...?"
"It wasn't a compliment," Bryce replies giving me a weird look.
"I know, but I don't know how I respond to that."
"By the way Toby is here."
"Why would I care?" I ask defensively.
"I thought you liked him?"
"What would make you say that?"
"Well didn't Jackie say you did," Bryce answers.
"Um yeah, but she wouldn't know, I would never tell her who I like."
"Oh that is too bad."
"What is too bad?" I ask curiously.
"Well, it is too bad you don't like Toby because I think he likes you."
