I Want to Forget

Chapter 32

I open the doors to the 50s themed diner.  I spot all of my friends squeezed at our booth.  I wave happily.  It feels like it has been ages since I have seen them.  I walk over and sit next to Summer.

"It is so great to see all of you!" I say way to happily. 

"We are so glad you are ok!" Lina blurts," Toby told us all the crazy things that happened in there!"

"So much for not bringing it up," Toby mumbles.

"It's fine, you guys deserve to know..." I reply.

"Eric said some weird stuff...," Kailah says," I mean I only know what Toby told us."

"I still don't understand what he mean't...." I say.

"He is bonkers!  He watched his parents get murdered at 13!  No wonder he ended up the way he is," John responds.

"Where is Tiffany? Rose asks.

"She...went home," I lie.  Honestly, I have no idea where she is.

"Well, bae, the food is on us.  You and Toby went through a lot," Keeley announces.

"I will be sure to order the most expensive things on the menu," I joke.  We all laugh.  I'm glad things were able to go back to the way they were.  I don't have to worry about this crazy psychopath on my back.  My life can be normal.

After our time at the diner, all my friends left...except Toby.  I stand by the curb, with Toby next to me.

"I don't think I will ever be able to come to terms with what happened that night," Toby confesses.

"I don't expect you to...how could anyone," I reply.

There were a couple seconds of silence, until Toby decided to speak up,"I broke up with Jackie.."

"Oh?" I ask not surprised," Why?"

He chuckles," You know why..."

"No...I don't,"I lie.

"Well... She moved."

"I am sorry," I say quickly not letting him finish.

"And,"he quickly drawls after I finish,"I never loved her.  I never even liked her."

"Really?"  I try to act surprised.

Toby laughs," Don't give me that crap.  You knew all along."

I smile," I haven't known the whole time.  I barely found out..Tiffany told me."

"So you know that..I love you?" He asks.

I nod, hiding my red face.

More seconds of awkward silence past.

"Why?" I ask.

"Why what?" He asks confused.

"Why did you have to break my heart?"

"Which time?" He asks.  I knew he was referring to 6th grade and when he started dating Jackie.

"Why did you date Jackie?  I was so clueless on why you picked her over me. You kissed me and then you left me for....her," I explain," You can tell me.  Is it because you didn't really love me then?  Or what?"

"The reason was because I loved you..." He replies.

"You broke my heart....because you loved me?  That doesn't make any since!"

"That night, at Jackie's party, we found out why she was targeting you.  I loved you then Paris, but I hated watching you get hurt...."he explains looking at his feet,"I gave her what she wanted.."  My heart melts.  No one has ever cared about me enough to do that for me. 

"I want to kiss you," I blurt.

He smirks," Then why don't you?"  He closes his eyes and gets closer to me.  I put my hand on his mouth and push him away.

"You are such a nerd," I joke.  He opens his eyes and smiles.  Before I knew it, he quickly kissed me.  It wasn't the best kiss ever, but it was sweet.

"That was a sneak peak," he winks.

"So there is more?" I ask raising an eyebrow.  He nods.  Toby wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close.  His face was centimeters away.  I wrap my arms around his neck and go in for a kiss.  It was the best and most passionate kiss ever.  I guess kisses are better when you are in love.  Couple days after Toby and I went on our first date, and then on a second, and a third.  After that date we became official.  My friends were jealous of me.  They have had boyfriends before, but I guess they were jealous of my love story. I have the most sweetest, most romantic, and most heartwarming love story of all time.  I mean who would have thought that the nerdy 6th grade girl could finally get the guy to fall for her.  Who would have thought that after all these years, we found each other.  I waited for almost 4 years for Toby to be mine, to be in my arms.

When I got home from the diner that day I received a text from an unknown number. I open the text. I couldn't believe who it was.

Hey Paris. How is summer going for you? Sorry I had to leave so soon without any goodbyes. I have some...business to attend to far from here. You might not see me again, but that is ok. I'm too bad for your own good, and you are too good for my own. Oh, your welcome for saving your life back there. Hope you and Toby have a nice long relationship together, maybe even life. Who knows what will happen in the future! Is that all? I think that is all I have to say. Well....have a nice life.

So....she is gone? I wonder where she went. I wonder if I will ever see her again. I guess...these questions won't ever be answered. Kind of sad, though, we went through a lot together. Freshmen year might have been rough and a there might have been way too many....psychotic killers, but I will definitely not forget it or Samantha.

After that, life went on. Sophomore year was a blur, and will take way too much time to explain, but then junior year came and you all know what happened there. Kobe came back...and so did Samantha-err Aimee...I guess. Maybe that is what Eric mean't with his last words. Did he know Samantha would come back and try to kill me? Junior year might have been much worse than freshmen year, but who can actually tell. I never heard from Jackie again. Maybe that is a good thing. Obviously Toby and I didn't last. Why did we break up? Well....that story is to be told another time. All I can tell you about the break up is...I want to forget...
