After Dabi had tasked her with her super secret mission, Eri had managed to convince him to draw a picture with her. At her request, he had drawn a cat. The fact that he then made it breathe fire was pretty fun and made her laugh. When he was sure Present Mic and Fat Gum weren't looking, Dabi had told her it would help chase away monsters at night, then taped it up on the headboard of her bed.
And then when Aizawa had gotten back and swapped places with the two heroes, he had sent them to bed. She didn't mind, but Dabi was spitting curses left and right, complaining about being treated like a kid. Aizawa had seemed...she wasn't sure. But he seemed less in the mood for messing around and snapped back at Dabi's antics.
But Eri pushed the unease she had felt to the back of her mind. Because right now she was practically vibrating with energy.
That morning after getting up, Aizawa had informed her that she would be spending the day with class 1A. A perfect opportunity to get Dabi's hair dye! Apparently Aizawa had something important to do himself, which meant Dabi was being left in the apartment with another Pro Hero while he was out.
Dabi hadn't liked that, growling viciously when Aizawa had pointed out that he didn't really have a choice in the matter. Eri was sad that Dabi seemed so uncomfortable with everything. But maybe if she succeeded in her mission then he'd be happier!
Before she had left, Eri had given Dabi a firm salute. It made him smirk, which made her happy. He'd given her a lazy two-finger salute back.
And now she was happily skipping along down the street, holding Midoriya's hand.
Dabi's advice was great! All she had to do was ask her 1A friends what a carmamel–caramel, she heard Dabi's voice supply in her head, but definitely say carmamel cause those kids will eat that shit up–apple was and they'd practically melted right in front of her and declared it was their duty to get her one before the day was out.
So here she was with Midoriya, Uraraka, Denki, Kirishima, and Jirou, all heading to the stores.
She grinned up at Midoriya as he excitedly described what a caramel apple tasted like, with Uraraka at his side smiling and chiming in every now and then.
Soon enough, they reached the market square with various stores surrounding a heavily traveled plaza. Eri snuck a look at the store fronts, trying to gauge which one might have hair dye inside. It was good that her friends knew where they were going because Eri had absolutely no clue where they were.
She tuned back in when she heard her name, glancing up at Midoriya as he spoke to her.
"This store has a lot of different snacks and stuff, Eri! It might be a little bit of waiting, but the caramel apple will be worth it, I promise!" he said earnestly.
Eri gave him a small smile. Even though she was here for the hair dye, she was getting pretty excited to taste caramel.
Before they moved any further, Eri recalled a piece of advice Dabi had given her for her mission. She tugged on Midoriya's hand.
When he looked down at her, she gave him wide eyes and a hopeful look. "Would I be able to buy the carmamel apple myself? I can do it like a big girl!"
Midoriya and Uraraka cooed at her sweetness, and he instantly replied with an 'of course!' and handed her a handful of yen.
Eri grinned excitedly and pocketed the money.
Wow, she thought. How did Dabi know that would work?
The group entered the store, which had a ton of different displays and a wide variety of merchandise. The front of the store seemed to have mostly different foods, while the back had more day-to-day products as well as magazines, knick-knacks, and trinkets.
