Reports regarding..."

"Dabi's murder victims."

There was a heavy pause before Hawks replied.

"Looking forward to working with you, Aizawa."

There was a hum on the other end of the phone before Eraser spoke up once more. "I want to stress one more thing, Hawks. I don't want the Hero Commission to know anything about this. I know you're their favored hero, but I want them kept away from this investigation."

Though the man couldn't see him, Keigo perked up, leaning into the phone with intrigue. No one had ever wanted him without the benefits of the HPSC before.

"I know you're an underground hero and all, Eraser, but doing something under the Commission's nose?" He hoped the smirk on his face translated into his voice.

"If Dabi's files are being kept from the general Hero Agency records by the Commission, I want to know why. So. Will you help me or not?"

Keigo leaned back in his chair, spinning it partway to look out the floor-to-ceiling windows in his office. A blank expression sat on his face as he idly twirled one of his feathers between his fingers.

It wasn't too hard a decision, really. He was invested the moment Eraser Head had mentioned Dabi's name. Lately, the Commission president had been attempting to formulate different methods to gain intel on the League and its members. And while it seemed Dabi was no longer counted among their group, getting into the man's good graces may make it easier for him to gather valuable information.

So sure. He'd keep it from the Commission for now. After all, he didn't want to give any reports on the investigation if it didn't turn anything up. He knew how the HPSC viewed failure...And he was sure that they'd overlook his sneaking around if he got Dabi to tell him League secrets.

The smallest of smiles curled up in the corner of his mouth.

"Like I said, I'm looking forward to working with you. Send me what you've got, and I'll get those files from those police stations no problem!" Keigo replied lightly.

======

Keigo had looked over Dabi's files carefully, searching himself for any obvious connections between the victims. But like Aizawa, nothing jumped out at him. Not really surprising, though. If Dabi's victims had any kind of record themselves, then it makes sense that that information would be kept under lock and key. Wouldn't really want that getting out to the public and have people question heroes and villains alike.

And the thing was, from what Keigo could tell Dabi was actually a pretty clever guy. So he doubted the current internet theories suggesting he was just an arsonist who killed people at random.

The night after he'd gotten the files transferred over, he decided to take his investigation to the streets. After finishing up his usual patrol routes, he took off towards one of the police stations in an outer neighborhood. The change of pace was certainly appreciated because his patrols were honestly so boring yet so busy at the same time. And if he couldn't have a day off to do whatever he wanted on his own time, at least he now had an exciting case to mull over.

He landed lightly in the alleyway beside the building after making sure there was no one around to see him. He de-bulked his wings by sending as many feathers as could fit into the empty backpack he'd worn.

Pulling his jacket collar up and putting his hands in his pockets nonchalantly, Hawks strolled out of the alley and hooked around to the main entrance.

It was a pretty nondescript station. Generic all around, with a reception desk and seating area at the front, and some glass doors to the side that opened up into the bullpen. As it was late at night, the harsh fluorescent lights in the lobby cast sharp beams to the sidewalk outside.
