Summary:

"The defense would like to call expert witness Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi to the stand."

WHAT THE FUCK?

Notes:

Man. I really got you guys stressing that last chapter didn't I? 😇 What's a little ✨ feral energy ✨ between friends, huh?

I wasn't intending for this chapter to be another 2 week wait, so sorry about that! It just took me lots of rewriting/rewording to get things to settle out how I wanted it! I hope you guys like it (and aren't too stressed this time 😉)

Chapter Text

Every part of Dabi's body felt like it was hot wired to an electrical socket. Like he had too much energy and nowhere to put it.

He was so goddamn stressed and just wanted the defense to be done.

But the detective?

What the actual fuck was he doing here?

Dabi took a measured breath and ran his thumb across Keigo's feather in his fist, eyes narrowing as he zeroed in immediately on Detective Tsukauchi.

The man had stood from his place tucked away within the gallery, wearing a clean cut but otherwise plain suit and tie. He walked purposefully, though didn't spare a glance towards the plaintiff's table as he passed by on his way to the witness stand.

Dabi's hackles bristled.

Seriously?! He hadn't seen the detective in person for a while now. He had thought it was because the man was helping put their case together and needed to be away from them to think. Was it because he was secretly cozying up to the Commission?

Dabi's fists clenched and he leaned forward, not breaking his eye contact even when he felt Aizawa put a calming hand on his forearm.

But Dabi paid him no mind. He was tired of being fucked over by people. It stung much more than he cared to admit, seeing Tsukauchi being called for the defense. It hurt to see him sit down and turn towards Shimizu after Dabi and Keigo had opened up and spilled their fucking trauma out there for him to just turn around and stab them in the back. But then again, Dabi should be used to betrayal by now.

When had he stopped being used to it?

"Detective Tsukauchi," rang out Shimizu's smug-ass voice. It curled the anger in Dabi's stomach. "Thank you for agreeing to appear today as an expert witness."

"Of course," Tsukauchi replied, giving a small bow of his head.

Shimizu turned to the trio of judges and gestured towards Tsukauchi.

"I would like to establish Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi as an expert in law enforcement and criminal investigation," he announced. After receiving a nod, he turned back to the detective. "Detective Tsukauchi. Would you please state your name, occupation, and place of employment?"

"Naomasa Tsukauchi. Criminal police detective. Police Force of Japan."

"Thank you. And would you please outline your specializations within your field as well your academic degrees and training?"

"I specialize in a variety of cases including organized crime, apprehension of terrorist cells, and taking part in specific investigation teams such as the one investigating the League of Villains, among other areas. I obtained a Masters in Science of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and subsequently have gathered over 10 years of experience working in the police force under various mentors and police chiefs."
