Aizawa was seething.
His knuckles were white from the grip he had on the door, and he slowly peeled his hand from it and turned.
Dabi was watching him with an unreadable expression. Aizawa could tell his mind was in overdrive, but about what he couldn't tell.
He moved his gaze over to Fuyumi, who was watching him with wide, nervous eyes.
Another Todoroki. As soon as she had said her name, Aizawa could see the familial resemblance to Shoto.
And then it had clicked. Todoroki. Yet another Todoroki that Dabi was connected to. One could have been coincidence. Two was suspicious. Three was downright damning.
There was no longer any doubt in Aizawa's head that Dabi had ties to the family, and with how viciously Dabi had gone after Endeavor, the number two hero had to be at the heart of things.
But right now?
Right now, he had to make sure Shoto was safe.
He fixed Fuyumi with a hard stare. "When was the last time Shoto was hurt?" he said slowly.
"I–this is–I came to talk to him," she said, pointing an accusing finger at Dabi.
"Well now you're talking to me," Eraser snapped back, stepping in between them to force her to focus on him.
Fuyumi didn't reply, but rather crossed her arms around herself protectively and took a small step backwards. She looked...scared.
Aizawa forced himself to take a deep breath. After all, if what he suspected was true, that means the girl before him grew up in the same house.
"Please," he said, voice losing some of the edge from before. "We both want the same thing: to do what's best for your brother."
Fuyumi hesitated, but kept her eyes on Eraser. "He's gotten a lot better," she finally said.
Aizawa frowned. "In what way?" he asked.
The question seemed to trigger her anger again.
"He's strict! They train a lot! I don't know what you're expecting me to say!" she snapped.
Aizawa ground his teeth to keep himself from losing his calm.
"I expect the truth. Does Endeavor injure Shoto while training?" he replied.
Fuyumi diverted her gaze off to the side. "I don't know what happens when they train. I'm not w–" she cut herself off before rewording. "My brother Natsuo and I have never been part of the training."
"Has your brother ever talked to you about the training?" Aizawa pressed. He heard movement behind him, and turned back to glance at what Dabi was doing.
He froze in his movements, looking like he had been shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
Aizawa furrowed his brow in confusion. Why had that question seemed to bother him?
He returned his attention to Fuyumi when she answered.
"Sometimes?" She sounded unsure of her own answer. "But I don't...he doesn't even live at home anymore. He's in the dorms now so they don't really train that much anymore."
Thinking carefully, Aizawa narrowed his eyes. Is that why 'he's gotten better'? Because Shoto isn't at home often enough anymore to make it a regular occurrence? That, at least, was a plus to the addition of the dorms that Aizawa hadn't even considered.
"Fuyumi," he said sternly, voice hard. "I find it difficult to believe that you don't know if Shoto is hurt during training."
She gave an almost frantic bark of a laugh. "I mean, it's training! Things happen!" she answered, throwing her hands up in the air.
