IT'S FINALLY HERE! The official--legal--confrontation with Endeavor and the Commission!!!! Let me know what you guys think of the pacing in this chapter! I want to make sure to include enough details without getting bogged down and dragging stuff out, but also not breezing through it.

ALSO IT'S STARTING TO GET MORE INTO SUMMER AND I AM SO HYPED!

"Let the proceeding begin."

That single sentence felt like it wrapped its hands over Dabi's shoulders and dug its claws painfully into his skin.

There was no turning back now. Not without losing everything he'd managed to gain. His new family, his siblings, his life.

Dabi listened carefully as the judge outlined the details of the hearing, clenching and unclenching his fists repeatedly to keep himself calm.

His heart picked up as she read the charges to Endeavor and the HPSC.

Child and public endangerment, child abuse, child neglect, domestic violence, attempted murder, human and quirk trafficking, bribery, fraud, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, corruption.

He closed his eyes and made himself take a deep breath as his father's sins were read off like a shopping list. When he opened his eyes, they were hard and fierce.

Endeavor and the Commission would not talk their way out of this.

He wouldn't let them.

His eyes snapped back to the judge when she turned to the plaintiff's table.

"Would the representing party for the plaintiff state their name for the record?" she prompted.

Sir Nighteye nodded and stood, tall and unwavering.

"Mirai Sasaki. Representing Dabi, also known as Touya Todoroki, and Hawks, also known as Keigo Takami," Nighteye stated firmly.

At the statement, there was a quiet murmuring throughout the gallery. After all, their real names would come as a shock to them.

Dabi had to suppress the urge to growl at his own name. While he'd grown more comfortable with the occasional "Touya" from his siblings (and was totally fine with it from his mother), the connection to Endeavor still ground on every one of his nerves.

A gentle bump against his knee drew Dabi's attention to his side, where Keigo sat staring at the proceeding with sharp eyes.

It reminded Dabi to take a breath. After all, this was also the first time Keigo's name was officially stated. While he knows Nighteye and Aizawa had explicitly asked Keigo for permission, it can't be easy having something so personal that was forcibly hidden just exposed in an instant.

He bumped his knee against Keigo's in response.

"Would the representing party for the defendants state their name for the record?" Judge Eniwa continued.

Nighteye sat down, and everyone turned their attention to the defendants' table.

The Commission board member stood, brushing off the hem of his jacket.

"Ren Shimizu. Representing number two Pro Hero Endeavor, also known as Enji Todoroki, and the organization of the Hero Public Safety Commission."

Aizawa sent Dabi a stern look when the temperature around them jumped a few degrees, and Dabi clenched his jaw and forced himself to calm down.

As Shimizu sat, the judge nodded and turned back to their table.

"I am ready to hear your opening statement," Judge Eniwa informed Nighteye.
