5: No reason

Jess's pov
"Hey princess, what can I get you?" I asked Jackie who somehow looked pretty even this early, she had on flare jeans with a tight long sleeve and a 'Gap' sweater over. "Two coffee and two pink donuts with sprinkles please." She answered with smile, that smile that makes me want to kiss- never mind. "Yes ma'am." As I gave her, her stuff Rory walked in and said "let's go the bus is coming!" "Okay jeez! Here." Jackie said giving me money and Rory her coffee and donut. "Ceasar I'll be back hold down the diner for now, will ya?" "But I have to cook." "Just do it for now. Ten minutes at most." I said walking up the stairs. "Hey Luke?" "Yeah" "Can I ask you something?" "Okay?" "But you can't laugh." "Okay just say it?" "Is... is Jackie seeing anybody?" I asked hesitantly."No wh- ohh" Luke said realization sinking in. "No no not 'ohh' I'm just wondering." I said quick turning to leave. "But" I froze and turned to face him. "But, But what?" I questioned. "Her mom said that she thinks that Jackie likes that blonde kid 'Christian' I think, and she thinks that he might like her back. I mean they looked pretty close at the party." Luke responded. I felt hot at the thought of Jackie liking someone else, being with someone else. "Does she know for a fact?" I asked. "No, but Lorelai said she knows chemistry when she sees it so." I felt somewhat relieved. "Jess come back down Kirk won't shut up with crazy food recommendations!" Ceasar cried out barging in. "Okay well I'm gonna go so" I told Luke pointing down.

Jackie's pov
"Hey Angel" Tristan spoke leaning against the locker next to me, over the last couple of weeks we've grown an unexpected bond, we've gotten so close I told him about the 'accident'. "Hey blondie." I replied. "So do you wanna watch a movie later?" "Sure, but in stars hollow. The guy who does tickets, Kirk, he makes out with his girlfriend throughout the whole movie so we eat as much snacks as we want for free, And their playing 'flipped'!" I said. "Ok fine." Tristan said as the bell rang, he kissed my cheek, something that I got used to that wouldn't mean anything more than a friendly gesture, a gesture that has Paris and her stupid minions mad at me for but whatever I have friends beside them, Jess, Rory, and Tristan, I don't need Paris.

Time skip
As me, tristan, and Rory got off the bus Rory went to dean as me and Tristan walked to the Luke's to get coffee before the movie started. "God what does she see in him, he's a total dick, he yells at her almost everyday day and they always argue, I would never treat her like that" Tristan said scoffing. "Well the heart wants what it wants." Jackie said shrugging as her and Tristan walked into Luke's. "Hey grumpy." "Jackie, Tristan, what can I get you?" "A burger and fries with a coke please" "Burger, fries, a shake, and ease add extra bacon in the burger." Jackie whined as Luke ignored her request and went upstairs. As Jess walked down he saw the two laughing, they were laughing at a kid who had fallen, but he didn't know that, Jackie was laughing so hard she held onto her stomach and had her head on Tristan's shoulder as he hid his face in her hair as him and the kid outside made eye contact, making the kid cry more. Jess's eyes wider than saucers at the sight. "Hey Jess, this is Tristan my friend, Tristan, Jess, also my friend." Jackie said as she came down from her laughing high. "Nice to meet you man." Tristan greeted Jess. "Yeah you too." Jess grumbled . " Jess, psst, jess come here." Jackie whispered. "Yeah princess?" Jess said hoping the boy heard and got the hint. "Tell Ceasar's put extra bacon on my burger please?" Jackie pleaded. "Yes ma'am" he answered as he went to the back to go tell ceasar. "He likes you, you know." Tristan said drinking his coke. "No he doesn't." "Angel he calls you 'princess' and totally mugged me as he saw how close we were, and did you see the way he stared at you?" Tristan asked as Jess came back and was making coffee in front of the two Jackie blushed hearing this . "You like him too don't you?" Tristan asked loudly. "SHHH" Jackie shushed him as the diner stared at the two, including Jess who was suddenly VERY interested. "You do!" Tristan said loud once again. Jackie smacked her hand over his mouth making eye contact with Jess as she pulled her friend out the diner. "What the hell! Are you trying to set me up!" Jackie said pushing Tristan. "He likes you!" "No he doesn't!" "Okay then, I'm gonna hold your waist, once we walk across the street check to see if he's looking, okay?" "Fine but he won't" as the two walked across the street Jackie turned back to find Jess starting at the two as he was serving coffee. "Was he" "that doesn't prove anything Tristan!" "Whatever"

Third person pov.
As Jackie walked into Luke's after Tristan left her eyes met Jess's. "Hey I'm sorry about earlier when I just ran out." Jackie apologized. "No biggie, but who you talking about?" Jess asked part curiosity, part jealousy. "No one that you know of." "So you do like someone?" Jess questioned. "Uh yeah." Jackie responded awkwardly. "Huh." Jess said feeling somewhat let down. "Hey I uh saved your burger if you still want it." Jess said. "Ok yes thank you Jess." Jackie said hugging the boy. She pulled away fast as both made eye contact. "You should go um, heat up the burger." Jackie said after the two stared at each other for what felt like forever. "Yeah." A couple minutes later, Jess returned with a bag of food. "Here princess, good night." "Good night asshole." Jackie said with a smirk.

Jess's pov
I walked into Luke's apartment and saw Luke getting cereal. "God that was pathetic." "What was?" I asked. " 'so you do like someone?', 'you should probably um go heat up the burger.', 'yeah' So much for not liking the girl." Luke said quoting our conversation from earlier and once again bringing up the fact I like Jackie. "Fine I like her ! You happy?" I told Luke. "So then tell her!" Luke told me. "No she obviously likes that stupid preppy boy." I said sitting down on the couch. " No she obviously likes YOU!" Luke cried out. "Really so please then tell me why they were all close earlier? Why was his hand on her waist, hugging her, walking with her?" "Maybe she likes him but she also likes you! Come on Jess it can't be that hard!" "Oh yeah then go ask Lorelai out on a date! She obviously likes you and you do too so go, go sleep together!" I yelled out irritated with the fact Luke was talking to me about girls. "Look I don't want to argue but I'm just saying, give it a try." And with that Luke went to his side and fell asleep leaving me with my thoughts.
