Chance's POV

Three hours later...

I placed an extra pillow under Hezekiah's head as he slept on without a care in the world. Tonight for the both of us was memorable in more ways than one since he and I finally lost our virginities, and here in the Nexus of all places. To be honest, I never imagined going this far even before we even took things slow, let alone have to deal with Catalina's possessive streak. All the same, there was no going back after we made love for three hours straight as we did so many positions that were thought to be forbidden back on Earth.

Hell, Hezekiah even fucked me once or twice and rode my cock several times. Who knew that the kid had a kinky side that he had to keep at bay?

I slowly slid out of bed, being careful to not disturb my lover. I thought about taking a shower, but didn't want to wake him up alongside the fact that I didn't have a proper change of clothes other than the ones that I wore to work as a bellboy. I took a look out the window that gave a good view of the backyard which boasted the swimming pool. A swim ought to do me some good, I thought as I headed downstairs and grabbed my backup pair of speedos before sliding them on and heading outside to the pool.

Once I dove into the water, my mind flashed back to my unpleasant life on Earth and how I was brought up by a family of heartless wolverines who had a mean streak as long as the Northeast Corridor. None of the male members of my family thought that me being a swimmer was considered manly since it was my sister's sport. And it wasn't easy being comfortable in my sexuality since it wasn't well-received in a family of hate-filled atheists and agnostics. "We may not believe in God and shit, but even we know that He hates all faggots like you with a deep passion," Dad would spit during every beating that I received, even when I wasn't doing anything wrong to earn his spite. "It's all the more reason why your mother and I should've had you aborted when we were pregnant with you."

Lovely father figure, am I right?

Anyway, school made things relatively better, but not as much since I was a scholarship kid at Allendale Christian Academy- a school where the Bible was law and stereotypes were rampant. And from the moment I laid my eyes on one Hezekiah Chamblee, the designated teacher's pet who never got a chance to blossom out into the real world; I knew that our paths were meant to be.

From our initial encounter over lunch, we became slow yet gradual friends. Of course, I had to be circumspect since no sane athlete would dare become friends with a nerd and vice-versa. Not only that, Headmistress Berkmar and all the teachers and staff members did all they could to keep Hezekiah all to themselves while keeping me with my social circle of fellow jocks and popular kids. "It's the principle of things," the red-headed headmistress told me at one point during junior year. "Hezekiah needs to keep his focus on schoolwork. His parents told me that his life wasn't meant for much socializing and that he needs to stay away from distractions."

Even his parents Jeffrey and Adelle Chamblee (the king and queen of the upper-crust society in all of Boston) had some words alongside my parents. "With your background and all, our son can't afford to be distracted by your ilk," Mrs. Chamblee said with an air of snobbery in her voice, sneering at me. "He's a bit of a runt and all, mind you, but we only want what's best for him. It's imperative that you stay far away from him for his own good and yours. He has a lot of expectations to fulfill if he wants to keep the family standards in pristine condition."

"That's right," Dad agreed, giving me a heated glare that hinted of another beating after the guests leave. "You're an abomination trying to corrupt a good kid, boy! You're to stay away from that young man if you know what's good for you!"

Unfortunately, I believed him. But that didn't stop me from thinking about him every single moment.

Every beating that I received from my Dad and uncles, I thought of Hezekiah.

Every time that I saw him being escorted to lunch with Berkmar (her orders), I thought of him.

Every time that I had to spend my free time with my teammates on the aquatics team, I thought of him.

And it pained me one time too many that I didn't do enough to try and fight to remain his friend. But the threat of my family being ruined and denied the checks from Jeffrey Chamblee overruled sentiment. I had to keep away from him and keep my feelings for him under lock and key.

***************

The day that I died was two weeks before senior year began. And much to my surprise, it was ordered by none other than Jeffrey and Adelle Chamblee himself and carried out by the man who beat me every chance he got. "It'll be for the best of your family that you don't exist anymore, darling," Adelle said as she sipped on her flask. "Besides, our son can't have any reminders of being rebellious. You getting too close to him back when you two were freshmen was too much of a close call."

"Quite right," her husband agreed as Dad and his brothers and nephews surrounding me while a gun was aimed at my head. "Our son doesn't have much expectations for his freedom since my wife and I want him to be at his best for family obligations. Still, he has to keep the Diamond Standard flawless. And with you out of the way, your family will benefit from your loss and mine will benefit from Hezekiah being dutiful."

I glared down at the parents who treated Hezekiah like a chess pawn. If I didn't hated them back when he told me about them, I hated them more at this moment.

Dad grunted, clicking his gun. "This is going to be the best day of my life," he said, grinning at me with hatred in his eyes. "Next life, either be reborn as a real man or not at all!"

It took only one gunshot to land me in the Afterlife Station where I would meet Louis and Salgiel, both of them alongside the archangels and arch-demons explaining to me that I was to be sent to the Nexus where I would finally live life in the way that was denied back on Earth. And from there, I knew that the Nexus would promise me a better life.

Now that Hezekiah was here and him being my destined soulmate, I knew that I had a life to live. Of course, I still have to deal with one possessive Brazilian beauty named Catalina Slade who saw me as her perfect boyfriend.  But I wasn't going to let the one boy who got away from me one too many times slip from me again.

And now that we had made love, it was all the more reason to keep fighting for his heart.

*************

After an hour of swimming laps, I came back into the house with the kitchen clock reading five minutes past eleven at night. I headed up the stairs and into 'Kiah's bedroom. Grateful to know that he was still asleep, I found a nearby towel to dry off my body before stripping out of my speedos before ducking back under the covers. "Sleep tight, Hezekiah," I said.

I snuggled closer to his naked body, my cock brushing against Hezekiah's bare ass cheeks. I grinned as sleep took me under.

I found my home in Hezekiah. And I was his home.

It's not my best work when it comes to Chance's backstory, folks, but at least we know that Jeffrey and Adelle Chamblee had a prominent hand in keeping my lovers apart all during high school. Not only that, we know that Chance's family hated him. Yikes, they must REALLY hate the idea of star-crossed lovers.

Anyway, it's the morning after with another flashback featuring a school project with dark forces (hint-hint) keeping my boys apart! Stay tuned, folks! You can't go wrong!
