"first years! these are the rules that you'll abide by," midnight announced, her voice commanding attention. "the game itself will last minutes. individual point values will be added together to reach your team total. everyone will know how much you're worth thanks to your headbands. swipe as many headbands as you can to raise your team's score. stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up. so the more you steal, the harder it'll be to manage them. and another thing. even if your headband gets stolen or your team falls down, you can keep playing until time's up." her words hung in the air, sinking into the minds of the eager first-year students.

miyuki stood amidst the murmuring crowd of her classmates. they were filled with excitement, but she was lost in thought, strategizing about who to pick for her team. her eyes scanned the faces around her, weighing strengths and weaknesses.

"this is going to be rough," midnight continued, her tone growing more serious. "you may use your quirks as much as you like. but there are still rules! make a team fall on purpose and i'll slap you with a red card. you'll be disqualified! now, you've got fifteen minutes to build your teams. i recommend you get started."

with that final directive, the students sprang into action, walking around and negotiating, choosing their teammates.

miyuki scanned the bustling arena, unsure of who she should team up with for the upcoming challenge. as much as she adored izuku, she knew his ten million score would make him a target. her gaze flickered towards bakugou, but he was already surrounded by eager classmates wanting him on his team.

just then, todoroki's voice broke through her thoughts. "let's form a team together," he declared, standing before her. "you want me on your team?" miyuki asked, genuine surprise filling her words.

"yes, i do," todoroki affirmed.

"oh okay!" her enthusiasm bubbled over as she threw her fist in the air. she would have never expected him to choose her.

"perfect. your lightning and wind, combined with my abilities, will for sure make us win," he remarked with determination, earning a firm nod of agreement from miyuki.

"i think we should ask iida too, he's incredibly fast and could be our front horse. oh! and yaoyorozu! her quirk is so versatile, it'll be a huge asset," miyuki suggested eagerly.

todoroki listened attentively. her suggestions aligned perfectly with his own thoughts.

caught in a moment of uncertainty by todoroki's silence, miyuki began to ramble nervously, maybe her plan was dumb. "if you don't agree, that's okay! we can pick someone else! how about tokoyami? his quirk—"

todoroki cut in gently, "no, your choices are good. i agree with them." he replied reassuring her.

"okay," she replied softly, averting her gaze. "let's go ask them," he told her, and they began to walk away together.

_____

"i believe the four of us will make for the most stable formation possible. satomi's our left wing. she can use her quirk to keep enemies at bay. yaoyorozu, you'll take the right wing. focus on insulation and defense. iida, you'll take the front. we'll rely on you for mobility and physical defense," todoroki explained his strategy, his tone calm but firm. the three of them nodded in agreement, understanding their roles.

"and you'll be attacking and creating diversions of ice and fire. is that right?" iida asked, seeking clarification.

"not quite. when i'm in battle... i never use my left side," todoroki replied, his voice steady. this revelation made miyuki curious about him.

"iida. yuki." the two of them turned around to see izuku and ochaco approaching them.

"hm?"
"what's up?"
