miyuki sipped on her juice box as she wandered through the stadium, taking in the bustling atmosphere. she wasn't hungry. her nerves about the upcoming matches had left her with a knot in her stomach. she was set to face another student in an individual match, and the anticipation was eating at her.

for weeks, she had practiced tirelessly, perfecting her tornado attack for the festival. today would be the day she finally used it. she just hoped she could control it well enough to avoid causing any unintended destruction.

lost in thought, miyuki didn't notice where she was walking until she felt a hand suddenly pull her aside, another clamping over her mouth. instinctively, she furrowed her eyebrows and bit down hard on the hand, eliciting a small groan from the person. she spun around to see bakugou glaring at her.

"what are you—" she began, but he quickly covered her mouth again and gestured towards his ears. annoyed, miyuki slapped his hand away and listened.

from a nearby corner, she heard todoroki and izuku deep in conversation. todoroki was sharing something personal about his family.

"we can't be listening to this!" miyuki scolded bakugou in a whisper, feeling an intense pang of guilt for overhearing such private words.

"whatever!" bakugou whispered back, waving her off dismissively. huffing, miyuki turned and retraced her steps.

as she walked away, her anxiety surged back. she felt so overwhelmed that she noticed a grey cloud forming above in the sky. her jaw dropped in alarm, and she waved her hands frantically, trying to make it disappear. this was one of the unfortunate side effects of her quirk, her emotions were directly tied to the weather.

"happy thoughts and clear skies," she murmured to herself repeatedly, echoing her older sister's comforting words.

"the sky, miyuki..." mei said softly, pointing to a small grey cloud hovering above them. ten-year-old miyuki's face filled with worry. "i'm sorry! i'm so sorry!" she kept apologizing, her voice trembling.

mei knelt down and gently held her shoulders. "it's okay, miyu. they're not here to hurt you anymore!" miyuki sniffled, nodding as she wiped her tears away.

"think about happy thoughts and clear skies," mei continued with a warm smile. "maybe we'll even see a rainbow today! would you like that?" a small smile began to grow on miyuki's face, and as it did, the grey cloud above them slowly began to disappear.

the cloud in the sky disappeared as miyuki's nerves washed away. despite how badly her parents had treated her, she couldn't help but wonder if they were watching. she always wanted to prove herself to them.

miyuki wiped a tear away as she walked back into the stadium with a smile on her face. she was unaware of the half-hot, half-cold boy watching her from a distance.

present mic's announcer voice boomed over the speakers. "get those foam fingers in the air! it's almost time for the last round! but before that: good news for everyone who didn't make the finals! since this is a sports festival, we've prepared some super-fun side games everyone can participate in! we even brought in cheerleaders from america to get your blood pumping!"

"hold up."

"what are they doing?"

"looks like class 1-a is goin' full-on fanservice!"

miyuki's eyes widened as she approached the group of girls from her class. momo was on the floor, sulking, while mineta and kaminari walked away, snickering.

"what are you guys wearing?!" miyuki burst out laughing as she saw her classmates dressed in cheerleader costumes. "that thing tricked us..." yaoyorozu muttered, pointing in mineta's direction as she gripped miyuki's arm, her face red with embarrassment.
