miyuki was sprawled out upside down on the lobby couch, her legs draped over the backrest while she lazily scrolled through her phone, her long hair touched the floor. this was a habit she never broke, she loved sitting like this.

"okay, so explain the move again?" izuku's voice broke through her thoughts. he was sitting cross-legged on the floor beside her, furiously scribbling in his hero analysis notebook. his concentration was intense, as always.

miyuki glanced over at him, then returned her eyes to her screen. "basically, with 'tornado,' i can either destroy whatever's in my path or pick it up. i'm getting better at controlling it, but it's still tricky because it uses so much wind." she was explaining her ultimate moves to him. he was updating her section in his notebook, he has not updated it since middle school.

izuku hummed in response, the sound of his pen scratching against the paper as he wrote everything down. "i've already got your 'mist blitz' move written down. oh! what about your goggles? i need to add them to your costume! do you think i can see them?!" his face lit up with excitement, eyes shining like a little kid in a candy store.

miyuki chuckled softly. "i'll go get them," she said, sliding off the couch. izuku nodded, as he began redrawing her hairstyle. her hair had grown out so much since middle school, he was always so attentive to details.

humming a lana del rey tune, miyuki made her way to her dorm room. the hallways were quiet, everyone was probably studying or sleeping. as she turned the corner, too caught up in her own thoughts, she didn't notice the figure coming toward her. he didn't notice her either, his eyes glued to his phone.

they collided with a soft thud. the phone slipped from his hand, falling on the floor.

"oh! i'm so sorry!" miyuki blurted, quickly bending down to retrieve the phone. her hand brushed against his as they both reached for it. she froze for a split second, eyes flicking up to meet his.

it was todoroki.

their cheeks flushed simultaneously, and they stood up awkwardly, both avoiding eye contact as miyuki handed him the phone back.

"it's okay," todoroki mumbled, his voice low. "i wasn't paying attention either." he glanced off to the side. miyuki nodded, unsure of what else to say.

an uncomfortable silence stretched between them until miyuki couldn't stand it anymore. her heart pounded as she spoke, "um, can we talk? did i... did i do something to upset you? you've kind of been avoiding me, and i'm not sure why." her words came out in a rush, her nervous laugh showing how uneasy she felt.

todoroki's expression didn't change, but his body stiffened. "not a good time," he muttered, before turning and walking away without another word, leaving miyuki standing there with a knot of frustration in her chest.

she sighed, rubbing the back of her neck, then continued on to her room to grab her goggles.

...

"ugh... i'm seriously getting nervous now." jirou muttered, biting her lip and frowning as she scanned the area.

"what are they gonna make us do?" mineta shifted uneasily, his voice trembling. "what if i can't get my license?" he added, his eyes darting around, anxiety plastered on his face.

mr. aizawa crouched down in front of him, his expression as calm as ever. "don't ask if you can do it, mineta. tell yourself you will." his voice was steady but firm.

mineta straightened up a bit, forcing a shaky grin. "yeah, right. i've totally got this!" he tried to put on a brave face.

aizawa stood up, his gaze moving over the group. "if you pass this test and get your provisional licenses, you'll stop being novice eggs. you'll be semi-pros. so i expect your absolute best." his words were strong, carrying weight, making everyone straighten up a little more.
