Chapter 14

Neels Visser as Axel c:

"Alexis, hello?" Declan waved his hand in front of Alexis, snapping her out her trance.

"You lost her," Axel shook his head.

"You were talking about how Axel wasn't getting laid, how Aaron was being and I quote 'a tool', and how Declan was being a knucklehead, once again," Alexis stated, a small smile tugging at her lips.

For a moment, everyone stared at her except Steele.

"Told you she was listening," Steele said without even glancing from the book he was reading.

"What are you reading?" Alexis smiled, not minding the other guys. Steele had gotten Alexis's attention quite a few times. He was always quiet with only a few things to say now and then.

"Of Mice and Men," he said looking at Alexis.

"A classic, nice choice," she complimented.

"More like dorky," Declan snickered causing Alexis to frown. Steele just went back to reading; he was accustomed to Declan's teasing self.

"Says a lot coming from a dork like you," Alexis retorted.

"Feisty," Axel grinned.

Alexis glanced at Aaron. He was talking to Steele quietly, not listening to Declan and Axel's apparent usual nonsense.

"Just so you know, I-" before Declan was able to give a comeback, an irritated squeal erupted into the cafeteria. All heads turned immediately to the source of the noise. Of course, it was Brittany, standing up and shouting at Beckett.

"You can't!" Brittany practically screamed, oblivious to the fact that all eyes were on her.

"I just think-" Beckett was frantically trying to calm his girlfriend down.

"Two years! We've been together two years!" She was fuming with anger.

"Brittany, look, I think that it's just about time that we breakup. And-"

"You were nothing before I started dating you! You can't leave me," Brittany's eyes were desperate even as she stood confident and cold.

"Actually, I was pretty popular and captain of the basketball team." Beckett rolled his eyes.

"You know what, fine! Leave see if I care! You'll come crawling back to me, eventually. You need me!"

"I need you? Last I checked, Brittany, I wasn't the one begging for me to stay," Beckett was clearly starting to get angry.

"You know, who cares! I've got tons of guys dying to date me and even more, I slept with Vance and I enjoyed every second of it," she was rubbing it in Beckett's face. From what Alexis knew Vance was supposedly one of Beckett's closest friends.

"You make me sick, it's a miracle I lasted so long," Beckett said before storming out the cafeteria doors.

It was dead quiet for minutes. After Beckett left, Brittany left with her goons. No one dared say a word. After the silence though, whispers spread around. The cafeteria was once again it's usual self.

"That was quite the show," Axel rolled his eyes.

"Just another day in high school," Aaron said, his words full of bitter disregard.

"Drama at it's purest form, and now the 'it' couple's gone, someone better replace it or else this place will fall into anarchy," Steele closed his book.

"She'll probably go for second-best-Vance," Declan laughed.

"I gotta go," Alexis stood and left the table, giving a small nod to the guys.
