Manisha POV

She don't know what she did to deserve Abhishek malhan.

Earlier, she had swore she was about to collapse from exhaustion as she dragged herself home from work, slumping against the door to push it closed behind her, expecting to be greeted by the typical dark and quiet of her appartment.

What she had been met with, however, was the soothing mix of music drifting from the stereo in the living room and faint humming from the kitchen, accompanied by the warm, savory scent of cooking.

Curiously, she had crept down the hall and peeked around the doorway, grinning as her eyes landed on a familiar figure. Taking a moment to admire him as he worked before making her presence known, she noted the way his hair fell over his eyes as he leaned over, his nose scrunching up slightly as he tasted something before nodding to himself.

Mani:-"Whatcha making?" He jumped slightly at the sound of her voice, turning to manisha with a massive grin.

Abhi:-"Ah, pasta, I think." He said, coming over a pressing quick kiss to her lips. "How was your day?"

Mani:-"Better now. Is that my apron?" She asked, toying with the ties around his waist.

Abhi:-"Maybe, is that okay?"

Mani:-"Yeah, just surprising, I'm not used to you cooking."

Abhi:-"I wanted to surprise you." He said, pressing another kiss to her temple before pulling away to check the pans on the gas. "Why don't you go wash up? This should be done soon."

Mani:-"You sure you don't need any help?"

Abhi:-"I'm sure. This is my kitchen tonight, get out." He said with faux authority.

Mani:-"Yes Sir." She played along, giving him a tiny salute before retreating to her room.

By the time she returned, he had everything set on the table, complete with candles for mood lighting. She couldn't wipe the amused grin off her  face as she watched him milling back and forth, putting on the finish touches, refusing again to let her help.

"What?" He asked, noticing her eyes on him again.

"You're just being really cute." She said, propping her chin in her hand as she watched him.

Abhi:-"Am I now?" He grinned.

Mani:-"Mhm, very house husband-y."

"Husband?" He raised a brow at her, making her start to backtrack before he chuckled.

"I think I like that." He mused, resuming his task, leaving her to fight back the faint, embarrassed heat in her cheeks.

Now, as she lay in bed, his head resting on her chest, sleep threatening to overtake her as she talked, she'd never felt more content.

"Thank you for tonight." She said, playing with his hair. "It was really nice."

"I'm glad, I like getting to look after you." He said, adding after a moment. "I liked what you said earlier too, about me feeling husband-y."

Mani:-"Really?" She glanced down at him.

"Mhm, I wasnt sure if you thought about that kind of stuff." He said, fiddling with the hem of her t-shirt.

"I think about it lot, actually." She admitted.

"Really?" It was his turn to ask.

"Yeah."

"What do you think about?" He asked.

Mani:-"I dunno, lots of things... Sometimes I think about where we'd live. Like, I know we'd have to stay in Mumbai most of the time, but I wondered if you'd want another place closer to your family, so we could visit them more, or somewhere totally different. Sometimes I think about if we'll have kids, and who they'd look more like." She chuckled. "Hopefully it's you... Babu?"

He'd grown so still, she'd wondered if he'd fallen asleep or if she'd said too much.

"Hold on." He rolled over, fumbling in the bedside drawer for a moment before turning back to Manisha and balancing a small velvet box on her stomach.

Manisha looked up at him in shock.

"It's not technically an engagement ring," Abhishek said softly. "But I wanted you to know that when the time comes, when we're ready, I want to take that step with you. I can't imagine my life without you."

Her eyes welled over with tears as he took her hand, taking a steadying breath before he continued.

Abhi:-"I want everything you said and so much more. And if you'll have me, I would love to spend the rest of our lives together."

Manisha voice failed her, coming out as only a whisper as she nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Yes."

With shaking hands, he slipped the ring on her finger before pulling her close.

Abhi:-"I love you so much."

Mani:-"I love you too."

They both fell asleep wrapped up in each other and the promise of forever.
