Chapter eight~
Logan's POV
**~**
I had been waiting outside of Jillian's hotel. I know it looked creepy but I had to make sure she got back safely, regardless the fact I could get in trouble for disobeying orders.
When Jillian first started walking away, I called my uncle and explained what happened. He then called Jason, the guy who had discovered and lead the mission to retrieve Jillian. They were both furious that I had broken my cover by taking her to the spring, but I never asked to be introduced to her. It was my uncle's idea to befriend her, not that I'm complaining.
I really did like Jillian, even though I didn't know her that well yet. There was something about the way she scowled when I teased her, the way she would get excited over the simplest of life’s pleasures that just made me want to be around her all the time. But now she hated me because I was denied the permission to tell her yet. There were still security issues that needed to be tested in order to safely get her out of here. I didn’t want to compromise her safety, I knew from experience what could happen.
When I got that call in my car, it was Jason himself. He wanted to personally bitch me out for my actions and he demanded that I leave her walking on her own, because I had already messed things up enough. He was going to fly out to Florida first chance he got to amend my actions.
I hated how he was only one year older than me yet he acted like he was “the shit”. I'll admit, his status was higher than mine in our society but he was constantly rubbing it in my face with his obnoxious attitude. I was fucking sick of it.
I couldn't just leave her though. I needed to make sure she was alright, just for my peace of mind. I've been waiting in my car for the past few hours outside of her hotel. It was quarter to twelve though and she still hadn't returned. The pit in my stomach grew deeper and deeper with each minute, each secound. I waited another five minutes before I couldn't take it any longer.
"Shit!" I yelled, slamming my hand against the dashboard. I started the car and sped off in the direction of where I last saw Jillian.
I knew something would happen to her! I let that idiot Jason tell me what to do and now she's missing. She could have been kidnapped for God's sake!
My speedometer reached 80mph. I was going 50 over the speed limit but I couldn't care less.
I scanned the shoulder for any sign of her but came up with nothing.
I kept driving and soon passed a small, dark bump on the side of the road. I slammed on my brakes and they let out a long, sharp screech as the tires slid with the pavement.
Fuck. Has she been hit by a car?
My heart hammered in my chest as I prepared for the worst. My fingers were clutching the steering wheel, blood draining from them with the strain.
