A viciously rude car horn startled me awake.

“Get your car off of the fucking road you idiot!” someone cursed from beside me.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw that Tubbo, the guy who was waiting below the balcony when I was kidnapped, was driving the truck now.

I was sitting in the front passenger seat and the clock on the dashboard in front of me read 1:00pm. We’ve been driving for four hours already. I gave up trying to find a way to unlock my car door two hours ago and decided to take a nap. It was better than having my abductors stare at me creepily while watching Tubbo scarf down a disgustingly huge, four-patty burger that he got from McDonalds.

 “Braeden, she’s awake.” Tubbo called behind him while unwrapping a sandwich wrap that had the famous golden arches on them too.  Jeez this guy doesn’t stop eating. He then stuffed half of the wrap in his mouth and I may have thrown up a little.

I could feel my seat being gently nudged as someone’s hand gripped the headrest and pulled themselves up from a lying down position.

My hands clenched into tight fists, my nails digging into my skin as “Braeden” poked his head between the seats, his face so close to mine that I could feel his breathe on my cheek.

I stared at him with utmost disgust. This is the man who kidnapped me. This is the man who beat Logan unconscious and shot Jason. This man, was a killer, and you could see it in his eyes.

I knew I probably shouldn’t, but I couldn’t help but blame myself for what happened to Jason and Logan. My own selfish actions is what caused them harm and this was something I could never take back. If I had just stayed quiet and let the intruders take me, none of this would have happened.

I guess I had a sense of security and belonging when I was with those two after all.

Braeden was still looking at me and I felt an icy shiver run down my back. His gaze was so creepy that I felt as if he had run his fingernails down a chalkboard.

The awkward silence went on for five more minutes before I decided to break it;

“Do I get to know why I’ve been abducted twice in the past few days?” I asked, my voice coming out a thousand times more confident than I felt.

“You haven’t been kidnapped sweetheart.” He smirked.

My puzzlement must have been the reaction he wanted because his smirk grew even bigger.

“You see, we’re SWAT.”

My eyes went wide in shock not only as I realized the meaning behind his words, but also because I couldn’t see how the hell Tubbo could have made it into SWAT. He looked like he could weigh three hundred pounds.

“Then why did you hurt my friends!? And again, why have you kidnapped me?” I was so distraught that I could feel my chest tighten to the point where I could hardly breathe. Jason and Logan weren’t the bad guys in this situation. SWAT must have made some disastrous error.

“So now you’re referring to your kidnappers as ‘friends’? Interesting.” Braeden pondered this for a moment before he spoke again. “Jillian, as a human right, I am making you aware that it has been notified to us that you are a threat to society, one that the US government intends to destroy. Our orders were to retrieve you and bring you to the directed facility where we will be relieved of our duty.”

“Yeah. We even had to take a newly tested, god-knows-what serum specially for this assignment!” Tubbo whined but was interrupted when Braeden leaned over and smacked him upside the head.
