The night passes with an uneasy silence hanging in the air, filled with the weight of the ultimatum. As dawn breaks, Amelia is torn from her troubled sleep by the sound of muffled voices downstairs. She recognizes one of them as her father's, and the other, unmistakably, is Kook's. Kook, dressed in his grey sweatpants, and a black sweatshirt that he had on last night, stands in the living room with Amelia's father.

He's trying to keep his cool, but his jaw is clenched tightly. "Amelia's old enough to make her own decisions," he says firmly, his eyes never leaving Amelia's dad'. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air, a stark contrast to the tension that has seeped into the room. The light from the rising sun casts a warm glow over the polished wood floorboards, creating a serene backdrop to the volatile situation unfolding in the early morning.

Amelia's father, a stern and burly man with a greying beard, faces Kook with a look of unbridled anger. "What gives you the right to be here? You think you can just waltz into my daughter's life and threaten me? Who do you think you are?"

Amelia: Threaten you?

Amelia emerges from the hallway, her eyes wide with shock and concern. She takes in the scene before her: her father, face red with rage, and Kook, his arms folded across his chest, looking equally unyielding. "Dad, what's going on?" she asks, her voice quivering. "I told you to stay away from her," her father says through gritted teeth. "I don't care how much money or power you have, you're not good for her."

Kook meets her father's gaze, his expression unreadable. "I'm here because she's my everything," he says, his voice steady. "And if you care about her, you'll let her make her own choices without making her feel guilty about them.

The room seems to shrink as the tension between the two men grows. Amelia feels her heart pounding in her chest, fearful of what might happen next. Amelia steps forward, placing a tentative hand on her father's arm. "Dad, please," she says, her voice shaking. "This isn't the way to solve anything." Her father turns to her, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and worry. "Amelia, you can't be serious about this...this man," he says, his voice trailing off.

Kook's eyes flicker to Amelia, searching for a sign of reassurance. "I am," she says firmly, her voice stronger than she feels. "I love him, and I want to be with him." The silence that follows is deafening. The only sound is the distant hum of the city waking up outside. Kook's eyes never leave Amelia's, a silent plea for understanding. "You don't know what you're getting into," her father says finally, his voice heavy with disappointment.

"You can't just throw your life away for some gangster."  Amelia's chin quivers, but she stands her ground. "I know exactly what I'm doing," she says, her voice steady despite the tremble in her hands. "And I'm not throwing my life away. I'm choosing to live it on my own terms, but I don't want to have to choose. It's not fair and its a shitty ultimatum" Kook's jaw tightens at the insult, but he remains silent, allowing Amelia to speak her piece. He knows this is her battle, her heart on the line. "You're just like your mother," her father spits out, his anger flaring up again. "Choosing a man who can't give you a normal life."
