The weeks pass in a blur of tears, heated arguments, and furtive glances exchanged in silence. Amelia moves into a small apartment, the walls closing in on her with every breath she takes. She's lost in thought, sitting on her bed, surrounded by unpacked boxes. The apartment is quiet except for the ticking of the clock. Amelia is curled up on her bed, the soft glow of the moonlight spilling in through the window. She's lost in thought, the past weeks weighing heavily on her. She misses Kook's fiery passion, but the fear of his possessiveness lingers like a ghost.
Amelia has been working long hours at the law firm, burying herself in work to avoid the chaos of her personal life. She's become a shell of herself, her vibrant spirit dimmed by the shadow of her father's disapproval and the turmoil her relationship with Kook has brought. Despite her exhaustion, she finds solace in the quiet office, the only place she feels truly in control. Amelia's phone buzzes on the nightstand, breaking the silence. It's Dohwan. He's been her rock through all of this, listening to her fears and supporting her decisions, even when they didn't align with his own feelings. She picks up the phone, her thumb hovering over the answer button.
Amelia finally answers the call, her voice shaky. "Hey," she says, trying to keep the emotion out of her voice. Dohwan's calm and understanding tone fills the line. "Are you okay?" he asks, his voice a balm to her frayed nerves. Amelia takes a deep breath, her eyes welling up with tears. "No," she admits, her voice cracking. "But I will be." Dohwan has been a constant presence in her life, bringing her comfort food when she's feeling down, helping her move into the apartment, and even offering to stay with her on her first night alone. His kindness and patience have been a stark contrast to the chaos that has been her relationship with Kook.
Kook's visits to her apartment have been relentless. She hasn't let him inside. She's found bouquets of roses outside her door, sweet notes slipped under the mat, and even a serenade one evening that had the whole building's attention. His efforts to win her back are both touching and overwhelming. She was trying to unpack everything, but she thought to herself how she needs more furniture. Despite her father's warnings and her own fears, she can't ignore the persistent knocking on her door. She opens it to find Kook standing in the hallway, looking more disheveled than she's ever seen him. His eyes are bloodshot, and his shirt is untucked, as if he's been wearing it for days.
Amelia's eyes widen in horror as she sees the crimson streaks marring Kook's usually handsome face. "What happened?" she gasps, reaching out to touch the blood gently. Without waiting for a response, Amelia grabs Kook's arm and pulls him inside, her heart racing with panic. She leads him to the bathroom, where she gently wipes the blood away with a warm cloth, her mind racing with questions. Kook winces as the cloth brushes against a fresh cut, his eyes locking onto hers in the mirror. "It's not what you think," he says, his voice a rough whisper.
The sight of Kook's bloodied face sends a chill down Amelia's spine, but she refuses to let fear control her. She takes charge, gently leading him into the bathroom, her grip tightening with each step. As the water in the tub starts to fill, Amelia grabs the first aid kit from under the sink. Her hands shake as she opens it, pulling out antiseptic wipes and bandages. She tries to remain calm, but the reality of Kook's dangerous lifestyle crashes down on her like a wave. Kook watches her in the mirror, his expression a mix of pain and something else - regret, perhaps? He knows he's brought this chaos into her life, but he can't seem to find the words to apologize.
