Weeks had passed since the night that Amelia told Kook the truth about the way she felt. He had become more possessive, his eyes never leaving her for too long, his touch a silent claim that she was his. He felt challenged by Amelia's like or love for Dohwan. Dohwan is his best friend, but he felt rage toward him right now. Amelia is the love of his life, and he knew he would do unspeakable things to keep her his. Kook's mafia instincts heightened.
He watched her every move, his eyes scanning the room for any potential threat. The passion between them remained as intense as ever, but now it was laced with a darker edge, a sense of urgency that seemed to drive them closer together while simultaneously pushing them apart.

Amelia used some of her vacation time to take a break away from work, and most of all Dohwan. After her confession to Kook she knew she had to come up with a new game plan, because working at the firm was no longer a real option. She feels like she really fucked up everything by feeling the truth. She just didn't want to continue on a lie.
Kook had arranged for them to stay in a penthouse apartment in Seoul, promising Amelia a chance to get away from everything and focus on their relationship. The view from the floor-to-ceiling windows was breathtaking, the city lights a dazzling array of colors that reflected in Kook's dark eyes as he watched her explore the space.
Amelia felt a mix of excitement and anxiety as she walked through the penthouse. The opulence was overwhelming, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief to be out of the office environment where she and Dohwan had grown so close.
She looked over her shoulder at Kook, his intense gaze following her every move. She knew she had to sort out her feelings, but the way he was looking at her made her stomach flutter in anticipation. She walked over to the windows, pressing her palms against the cool glass. "It's beautiful," she murmured, her eyes scanning the cityscape.
The days that followed were a whirlwind of exploration and passion. Kook took Amelia on a tour of his favorite hidden spots in Seoul, revealing a softer, more vulnerable side of himself that she had never seen before. They wandered through bustling markets, their hands entwined, as he pointed out the stalls that sold the best street food. He took her to an underground jazz club where the music was as dark and sultry as their desires.
They danced, bodies pressed together, the rhythm of the bass line matching the thunderous beating of their hearts. They laughed at karaoke bars, their voices a cacophony of love and lust. They made love in the shadow of ancient palaces, surrounded by whispers of history and the sweet scent of cherry blossoms. In the bustling heart of the city, they found moments of quiet intimacy that made the chaos outside seem like a distant dream. But even in their happiness, the shadow of their secrets lurked, a constant reminder of the precarious tightrope they were walking.
Amelia's eyes met Kook's in the mirror of the master bathroom, her reflection showing the swirl of emotions she felt. She had never been so torn in her life. She knew that her love for Kook was real, but the bond she shared with Dohwan was pretty strong, a bond forged through shared experiences and deep trust. As Kook's hands moved over her body, she couldn't help but think of the first night she had spent with Dohwan, the way his gentle touch had made her feel seen and understood.
She felt guilty, like she was betraying Kook with every passing moment she thought about Dohwan. But she also knew that she couldn't simply ignore her feelings for him. It was like trying to hold back the tide with a single hand. She took a deep breath, trying to push the thoughts away. "Kook," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "What happens next?"
Kook's hands paused, and he stepped behind her, his chest pressing against her back as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his breath warm against her neck. "We take things slow," he murmured, his voice a gentle rumble in her ear. "We enjoy each other, and we don't think about anything else."
His grip tightened, a silent promise that he would do anything to keep her by his side. Amelia leaned into his embrace, the warmth of his body soothing her frayed nerves. She nodded, her voice a barely audible murmur. "Okay," she agreed. "Just you and me." She closed her eyes, letting his love envelop her like a warm blanket.
As the days passed, the penthouse in Seoul became a sanctuary for their love, but Amelia couldn't shake the feeling of being adrift in a sea of confusion. Her thoughts often strayed to Dohwan, his gentle touch and knowing smile haunting her dreams. She felt lost in a tide of emotions, torn between the love she had for Kook and the bond she shared with Dohwan.
One evening, as they sat on the balcony overlooking the twinkling city lights, Amelia's thoughts grew too heavy to bear. "Kook," she began, her voice soft and tentative. "I've been thinking about...about my dad." She turned to face him, her eyes searching his for understanding. "Since he's been gone, something's changed in me. It's like I need more...more of everything."
Kook studied her face, the scar on his cheek standing out in the moonlight as he leaned back in his chair. He took a sip of his whiskey, the amber liquid glinting in the low light. "What do you mean?" he asked, his tone measured. Amelia took a deep breath, feeling the cool night air on her bare skin. "I don't know," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "It's like...I'm searching for something. And I don't know if it's here with you, or if it's with Dohwan, or if it's even something I can find."
Kook's eyes searched hers, his voice dropping to a whisper that was more dangerous than a shout. "You think you can play with fire and not get burned?" He leaned closer, his breath hot against her skin. "You're mine, Amelia. I won't share you." His grip on her hand grew tighter, his knuckles turning white with the effort to hold back his fury. "This ends now," he said, his voice a low, deadly rumble.
Amelia felt a shiver run down her spine as Kook's words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken threats. His hand on hers was a brand, searing into her skin. His posture had shifted, his shoulders squared and his muscles tense, like a predator ready to pounce. His eyes, usually filled with warmth and love, were now cold and hard as diamonds, a stark reminder of the ruthless mafia boss beneath the surface.
His breathing was shallow and quick, his chest rising and falling in agitation. Despite his calm demeanor, his entire being was a tempest of barely restrained rage and jealousy. She could see the tension coiled in his jaw, the way his fingers tightened around the glass, and the way his eyes had narrowed, the only indication of the storm brewing within him.
She knew Kook was a possessive man, but his intensity was beginning to scare her. She swallowed hard, her heart racing. "Kook, please," she begged, trying to pull away from his grasp. "I'm not playing games. I just don't know what I'm feeling." But Kook wasn't listening, his mind already racing ahead. He stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor.
He turned to face her, his expression a mask of anger and hurt. "You don't get to fuck with my head like this," he snarled, his eyes flashing with a cold, hard light. "I've given you everything. I've protected you, loved you, and this is how you repay me?" He slammed his hand on the table, making the glasses tremble. His jaw clenched, and his scar stood out starkly against his flushed skin.
Kook's patience had worn paper-thin, and he couldn't hide his exasperation any longer. He grabbed her shoulders, his grip firm. "Look at me," he demanded, his eyes boring into hers. "You're mine, Amelia. Do you understand that?" His voice was like gravel, rough and unyielding. "I won't lose you to Dohwan, or anyone else." His words were a declaration, a promise of possession over her.
