Karina gazed out the window, the city lights shimmering like a distant dream. The room was cloaked in a gentle, melancholic silence, punctuated only by the occasional whisper of the night breeze. She turned her eyes back to you, sitting across from her on the couch. Your gaze was fixed on the floor, and the weight of unsaid words filled the space between you.

"It's not like it used to be, is it?" Karina's voice was soft, barely more than a sigh.

You looked up, your expression a mixture of sorrow and acceptance.

"No, it's not."

Once, your love had been a blazing inferno, consuming everything in its path and lighting up your lives. Every shared moment was a treasure, every touch a spark that set your hearts racing. But now, that fire had cooled to embers, leaving behind only the shadows of what once was.

"Why can't you let me go?" Karina asked, her voice trembling with the weight of the question.

"We're not the same anymore. We're just pretending."

You sighed, running a hand through your hair.

"I know, but... it's hard. Letting go means admitting it's really over."

Karina closed her eyes, a single tear slipping down her cheek.

"I don't want to hurt you, but I can't keep pretending everything is okay. We're just going through the motions, holding on to something that's already gone."

Your eyes met hers, and for a moment, you saw the vibrant, passionate woman you had fallen in love with.

"I've noticed it too," you confessed.

"The way we don't laugh like we used to, how our conversations feel forced. Even when we're together, it feels like we're miles apart."

She nodded, her heart aching with a bittersweet nostalgia.

"We've been putting on a show, trying to convince ourselves that nothing has changed. But it has. We have."

A serene silence enveloped you both, the gravity of your words settling in. Karina thought back to the early days of your relationship when everything had felt so effortless. You had spent hours wandering hand in hand, your steps perfectly in sync, sharing dreams and secrets. Now, even the simplest gestures felt strained.

"Jimin-ah, do you remember our first date?" you asked suddenly, a wistful smile playing on your lips.

Karina smiled faintly, her eyes shining with memories. "How could I forget? You took me to that little cafe by the river, and we talked until they closed."

Flashback

Your heart had been pounding as you waited outside the cozy café by the river, the afternoon air cool and breezy. Soon enough, Karina arrived, her smile lighting up the dimming sky. You both felt the immediate connection, an unspoken understanding that this was the start of something special.

"Anyeong Jimin-ah," you greeted her, your nerves melting away as she approached.

"Anyeong Y/Nnie," she replied, her voice as warm and inviting as her smile.

"This place looks amazing."

The café was charming, with warm lighting and an inviting atmosphere. You chose a corner table by the window, the soft murmur of conversations and clinking of cups creating a comforting background. As you sat across from each other, the world outside seemed to blur, leaving just the two of you in sharp focus.
