For better experience:

The soft melody of a piano played in the background, its notes floating through the air like delicate petals. The chapel was adorned with white roses and soft, pastel-coloured ribbons, giving the space a serene, almost ethereal beauty. You sat quietly in one of the pews, surrounded by friends and family, all gathered to celebrate this special day. But despite the joyful atmosphere, a faint sense of longing lingered in your heart.

It was her wedding day.

Minju's wedding day.

You couldn't help but let your mind drift back to all the memories you'd shared with her. From childhood to adulthood, she had always been a part of your life—a constant, like the steady rhythm of your heartbeat.

Flashback

You were both six years old, playing in the park near your neighbourhood. The sun was shining brightly, and the scent of fresh grass filled the air. You were shy, not quite ready to approach the other kids, but then you saw her—a girl with a bright smile and sparkling eyes. She was chasing after a butterfly, her laughter ringing out like music.

"Hi!" she called out to you, waving enthusiastically.

"Do you want to play?"

You hesitated, then nodded, feeling a bit nervous but excited at the same time. She took your hand without a second thought, leading you towards the swings.

"I'm Minju! What's your name?"

"Y/N," you replied, feeling the warmth of her hand in yours. From that moment on, you were inseparable.

You were both sixteen, sitting under the large oak tree in the school courtyard. It was your spot, a place where you could escape the pressures of school and just be yourselves. The afternoon sun cast long shadows on the ground as Minju leaned against the tree, her head resting on your shoulder.

"Y/N," she said softly, her voice tinged with the slightest hint of vulnerability.

"Do you think we'll always be friends? Even when we're older?"

You turned to look at her, surprised by the question.

"Of course we will, Minju-ah. You're my best friend. Nothing's going to change that."

She smiled, but there was something in her eyes, a depth of emotion that you didn't fully understand at the time.

"Promise me, then. Promise that no matter what happens, we'll always be in each other's lives."

You reached out and linked your pinky with hers. "I promise," you said, sealing it with a gentle squeeze.

It was a chilly winter evening during your university years. You and Minju were bundled up in scarves and coats, walking through the snow-covered streets after a night out with friends. The world around you was quiet, save for the crunch of snow beneath your boots and the soft glow of streetlights.

You wanted to tell her. You'd been wanting to tell her for so long, but the words always seemed to get stuck in your throat. But that night felt different. The air was crisp, the stars were shining brightly, and the moment felt perfect.
