Everything was going smoothly between them until Jungkook encountered problems in his business. The project his company was working on wasn't going well, which stressed him out. Due to this, he often came home late, engrossed in project-related arguments on the phone. This situation worried Y/n a lot. She hoped things would improve for Jungkook's work, but instead, they kept getting worse.
As days passed, Jungkook started skipping meals. He'd leave for the office in the morning without eating anything and return home late at night. Y/n would eagerly wait for him to come home so they could eat together, but Jungkook would always reject the idea and head straight to his room. She became increasingly stressed and frustrated with his behavior.
Exhausted from it all, Y/n finally decided that, come what may, she wouldn't let Jungkook skip his meals. She woke up in the morning and prepared a delicious breakfast for him, then went to his room, only to find it empty.
"Where could he have gone this early?" Y/n wondered to herself. Placing the breakfast on the table, she searched for him but he was nowhere to be seen. Feeling tense, she sat on the bed, gazing at the breakfast. Suddenly, her phone buzzed, signaling a text message. She checked it and saw that it was from Jungkook.
"I had to leave for the office earlier than usual today. I'm sorry I couldn't inform you beforehand. Don't worry about me, take care." Her eyes welled up with tears, though she couldn't pinpoint the exact reason. Seeing him in this state made her feel queasy. She then brushed off her thoughts and, determined to feed him dinner, she left the guest room with the breakfast she had prepared for him and ate it herself with a heavy heart. Time passed.
At night, she sat at the dining table with the dinner she had lovingly prepared for him. "I hope he likes it," she said, smiling. As time passed, it was now 11 pm, but he was nowhere to be seen. She didn't lose hope and continued to wait for him, waiting patiently. Finally, he returned around 2 o'clock. Y/n quickly got up from the dining table and approached him.
"How was your day at the office, Jungkook?" She asked, smiling brightly, only for her expression to falter into sadness upon hearing his reply.
"Why are you still awake, Y/n?" he questioned in return with a straight face after closing the house door and removing his shoes.
"That's not the answer to my question. I asked how your day was, and how could I sleep knowing it's 2 o'clock in the morning and you haven't come home," she replied.
He sighed before speaking, "I'm sorry, there's so much to do at the office, and the day was exhausting. That's why I couldn't come home early. I just want to sleep." Y/n could sense how tired he was.
Her concern for him was evident on her face, which didn't go unnoticed by him. It made him feel a little relieved to see her caring for him so much, but it also saddened him that she had to endure so much because of him. It hurt him deeply.
"I've made dinner for us, Jungkook, so just quickly freshen up, and then I'll serve it," she said.
"I'm not hungry, Y/n. I'm tired, so I'll just take a shower and sleep," he replied, starting to head towards the guest room. But she stopped him by stepping in front of him.
"What are you doing, Jungkook?" Y/n asked.
"What?" he replied, raising his brow.
"Why are you continuously skipping your meals? I know you're stressed but skipping meals isn't good."
"I'm not skipping my meals, Y/n. I just don't have any appetite to eat, that's it."
"Don't lie, Jungkook. You didn't even have breakfast this morning or dinner yesterday. How can you say you don't have any appetite?"
Her words annoyed him slightly. He knew she was worried about him, and it frustrated him because her this caring nature towards him makes it difficult for him to stay far from her.
"I'm not in the mood for an argument, Y/n, so just step aside."
"No, not until you eat dinner," she insisted, as he sighed.
"Okay... keep them in the fridge, I'll eat when I feel like it."
"It's already past midnight. When will you eat?"
"I'll eat it. Just keep them in the fridge," he said hurriedly. Before she could stop him again, he left the living room, leaving her alone.
Y/n sighed and then sat at the dinner table after putting the food in the fridge. She had decided that tonight she wouldn't let Jungkook skip his dinner, so she waited for him. Hours passed, but he still didn't come. It was now 3:45 in the morning, and Y/n was feeling dizzy. She tried to stay awake but ended up falling asleep on the dining table while waiting for him.
