Jungkook's eyes widened in shock as Y/n confirmed the name.
"Hyun-yu... yeah, that's him!" she said, her surprise evident in her voice.
Jungkook felt a pang of jealousy, but he tried to brush it off, saying, "Oh, really? Well, I should delete his number then."
Y/n's expression shifted from surprise to confusion as she processed his words. "Wait, what?" she uttered, half-confused.
Realizing he might have spoken too soon, Jungkook quickly added, "I mean, block him forever! Yeah, that's what I meant." Y/n hesitated for a moment, her confusion evident.
"Why would you want to do that, Jungkook?" she asked, trying to make sense of his sudden determination. Jungkook avoided the question, hoping to mask his jealousy. But Y/n couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
Y/n looked at him, puzzled by his aura, but then it hit her and a smile tugged at her lips.
As she continued drying her hair, she teased, "Are you perhaps... jealous, Mr. Jeon?" Jungkook nodded, then immediately shook his head, "No, no, no. Why would I be jealous? It's not like it's true that you two were a couple or something," he stammered, feeling flustered.
Y/n chuckled, "Oh, okay, okay. So, if I and him were a couple, you'd be jealous?"
"Yeah, obviously— I mean, no... why would I be jealous over something like this," Jungkook muttered, a hint of a pout forming on his lips.
Y/n smiled, "Yeah, I know. You're way too understanding and mature for that, Jungkook," she said, acknowledging his emotional intelligence. Jungkook smiled nervously, acknowledging his hidden jealousy but pretending otherwise.
"Yeah, that's the fact, definitely," he agreed, watching as Y/n hummed and continued her skincare routine.
"Well, are you going to call him back?" he finally asked, breaking the silence. Y/n glanced at him through the mirror, contemplating.
"I'm not sure if I should or not. What do you think?" she asked, turning to face him. They locked eyes, and after a moment of reflection, he responded, "It's up to you, Y/n. If you want to, then do it. And if you don't, then don't." She listened, pondering his words, still feeling uncertain.
"I know he's a bit of a jerk—" Jungkook started, but he stopped abruptly when Y/n shot him a shocked look at the word "jerk."
Clearing his throat, he corrected himself, "I mean, weird. But you should call him back, Y/n. Maybe he has something important to tell you . Plus, there's a lot of confusion for him too, regarding me being your husband and our living arrangements."
Y/n processed Jungkook's words, finding a certain logic in them. After all, it had been years since she had been in touch with Hyun-yu, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to just give him a call back. Eventually, she made up her mind.
"Hmm... You're right. I should call him back," she announced, nodding in agreement as Jungkook offered her a reassuring smile.
With her skincare routine completed, Y/n settled beside Jungkook as he dialed Hyun-yu's number and handed her the phone. They waited patiently as the phone rang, until finally, Hyun-yu picked up the call.
