"No, Jungkook, it's not like that—""It is like that, Dad. You're just so selfish. I thought you had changed, but no, you're still the same, always thinking about yourself. You never consider others. You used Y/n for your own benefit," Jungkook said, his eyes piercing into his father's. His father's heart shattered at Jungkook's words, the pain cutting deeply. He looked at his son, feeling the weight of his accusations, and struggled to contain the emotions welling up inside him.
"Jungkook, how could you say that to your father?" his father whispered, his voice tinged with grief.
Jungkook looked away from his dad and said, "It's the truth, Dad. You've always been like this. Do you even know how much it hurt me to find all this out?" His father stood there, frozen, his heart breaking more with each word Jungkook spoke.
"And do you know, Jungkook, how much it hurt knowing my son never loved me the way he loves his mother? Do you know how it felt, longing for your love, but you never cared to show it to me, even after your mother's death?" His father's voice cracked with emotion, his heart heavy with sorrow.
Jungkook felt a flicker of confusion hearing his father's words, but he quickly shrugged it off, refusing to let himself be impacted. This reaction only deepened his father's pain, making him feel even more heartbroken.
"It's all lies. You never loved me. You were always busy with your work. We never went anywhere together; it was always Mom who stayed with me. Whenever I needed you, you were never there."
His father's expression softened, his eyes reflecting a mix of regret and sorrow. "Jungkook, I understand why you feel that way, but it's not entirely true. I did love you, deeply. My work demanded a lot of my time, but I always tried to make up for it whenever I could. I may not have been there as much as I wanted to, but I always carried you in my heart."
Jungkook's gaze softened slightly, conflicted emotions swirling within him. He wanted to believe his father, to find solace in his words, but the wounds of the past were still raw, making it difficult for him to fully let go of his animosity.
Jungkook listened carefully, his father's words resonating within him, stirring a mix of emotions. Part of him yearned to believe his dad's sincerity, to find comfort in the possibility of a renewed bond between them. Yet, deep-rooted resentment and pain clouded his judgment, causing him to push those thoughts aside once more.
"No, Dad, you're lying," Jungkook uttered, his tone laced with bitterness. "The way you're saying all this, it feels like you were the one who killed Mom."
As soon as those words escaped his lips, Jungkook felt the weight of his father's anger descend upon him like a heavy storm cloud. A sharp slap across his cheek shattered the tense silence, sending shockwaves of pain and disbelief through Jungkook's body.
"How dare you say something like that, Jungkook?" his father's voice quivered with rage, his eyes ablaze with a mix of fury and hurt. Jungkook's own eyes welled up with tears, mirroring the anguish reflected in his father's gaze. Never before had his father raised his voice at him, let alone slapping. The betrayal and shock were palpable, causing Jungkook's entire being to tremble with a mixture of physical and emotional pain.
As his father realized the gravity of his actions, he instinctively covered his trembling mouth with his hands, a mixture of shock and remorse washing over him. With hesitant steps, he began to approach Jungkook, his voice choked with emotion as he attempted to offer an apology.
"Jungkook, son, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean—" his words trailed off as Jungkook took a step back, his eyes brimming with fresh tears. The hurt and betrayal reflected in Jungkook's gaze pierced his father's heart like a dagger, making him speechless.
As Jungkook's final words hung heavy in the air, his father felt a wave of numbness wash over him, the weight of Jungkook's words crashing down on him with an unbearable force. "I really wish you had d*ed that day instead of Mom, Dad" Jungkook's voice echoed in his ears, each word carrying the weight of a lifetime of pain and resentment.
With a heavy heart, Jungkook turned away and left his father's house, tears streaming down his cheeks, leaving his dad standing frozen in a whirlwind of emotions he couldn't begin to comprehend.
FLASHBACK ENDS
Y/n arrived at Jungkook's company and approached the lady at the counter. "Excuse me," Y/n said politely. The lady smiled and asked, "Yes, how can I assist you?" Y/n replied, "I'd like to meet Mr. Jeon." The lady inquired, "Do you have an appointment with him?" Y/n shook her head and answered, "No."
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but without an appointment, you can't meet him," the lady informed Y/n, who sighed in disappointment. Y/n nodded understandingly.
"However, you can leave your name and phone number with me. I'll let him know you stopped by," the lady suggested.
Y/n agreed, and as she spoke her name, "Y/n... Jeon Y/n," the lady's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Jeon Y/n... wait, are you Mrs. Jeon?" she asked, shocked.
Y/n confirmed, "Yes, that's me. Why?" Confused, Y/n inquired.
"Oh my gosh, I'm terribly sorry, ma'am. I had no idea. The boss never mentioned you at the office. I'm really sorry," the lady apologized profusely.
Y/n reassured her, "No, no, it's okay. Don't apologize. It's not your fault." Y/n comforted her, and the lady calmed down.
"I'm sorry once again, ma'am," the lady said, bowing down. "It's okay," Y/n replied gently. The lady continued, "He's in a meeting right now on the 10th floor, so you can wait in the waiting room there. Once he's done, I'll let you know." Y/n nodded in agreement, and after saying okay, she headed to the elevator.
It was the same place where she used to work with her father, so Y/n didn't feel uncomfortable there. She entered the lift, and on the 2nd floor, a guy joined her. As they rode together, Y/n felt him staring and giving her a dirty smirk. She cleared her throat and decided to ignore him, focusing on reaching her destination floor.
Y/n had hoped the guy will stop, but he continued to stare and tried to get closer to her. She did her best to ignore him, not wanting to create a scene. Finally, when she reached on the 10th floor and steeped outside the elevator, she noticed the man was exiting too. She assumed he might also be heading to that floor, so she walked ahead.
Suddenly, she felt him intentionally slightly touch her from behind, causing her patience to snap and her anger to boil over.
