she never really experimented with her hair before debut or during training. as a child it wasn't allowed to have unnatural hair colors in school and she was discouraged from cutting her hair, so she has always had long hair. she only got bangs because she cut them herself without anybody knowing. she has naturally black, straight hair.

they say girls change their hair when going through a heartbreak and that's exactly what she did. during her debut she was going through her first heartbreak from her first love and first serious longterm relationship. she decided to dye her hair for the first time, but was too afraid to cut it. she was hesitant on the color at first, but her hair stylist thought the color would make her stand out. at the time it was a striking color that many thought suited her. unfortunately, the color has since become one of her most underappreciated looks.

she decided that she didn't want to maintain the color, so she went back to black when her roots started to show. her hair grew out a lot during this era, reaching her mid back. she cut her bangs cause the hair irritated her eyes, but kept the overall length. she began to curl her hair a lot during this time.
